You got Progressive to insure your AT? I was told they will not write over HP500's.

Did an agreed value and was about the same price as the powerquest, just make sure you use the prop shaft HP. Best price I found for sure.

I know they have the best price. They did write my PQ for a fraction of what I'm paying for this boat. But Bob Luellen tells me they WILL NOT write twin HP525's...period! HP5's is the biggest twins they will write. I'm going to shoot him an email about your situation (without any names) and see what he says.

I just spoke to him about this a month ago when I got my renewal. I was very unhappy about the fact it went up $475. He confirmed Progressive had still not changed their policy on this.

Macklin dont you have the 496 engine package ? My agent submitted mine based on prop shaft HP so I am right at the 1000 HP limit, give it a try pretty hard to beat there rates.

Macklin is correct, no Merc 525's.

As an agent for Progressive I can tell you that it is all mainly automated, meaning policies are bound through a site on the internet without company approval. If an agent puts 1000HP in the spot where it asks for HP, it will approve it. If they put 1050... the system will decline your boat. Progressive relys on the agents to do the correct thing and input the correct information.

I'm not saying that in the event of a claim that they would deny your claim based on misrepresentation, but I wouldn't willingly give them an "out" to use. If your claim is bad, then you're going to want your coverage and then the amount of money you saved won't be worth it at that point. Just my two cents from this perspective.

Progressive rates are sometimes good and sometimes bad, just like any carrier. American Modern will write an A/T for just under a $1.00 rate in MI. So, if you take your current insured value and multiply it by .095 then that would be your approximate rate with AMOD.

Just to clarify, on my policy submisson forms it does not ask engine model but just prop shaft H.P. so stating the fact of the 1000 HP is correct and not miss leading, so how would there be an out ? If i was to take the insured value at lets say $185,000 and multiply it by .095 you are saying the rate would be $17,575 ? or would it need to be .0095 for a rate of $1,757.50 for the pilocy.
