Policy paperwork

How many on OSO that have their boats insured have the complete written policy (not just the endorsement paperwork) from their insurance company? Simple Yes or No.

If any agents care to respond with "Do you provide the complete written copy of the actual policy for that insured"?
or does the insured person have to ask for it?

Once your policy is issued, the Insurance Carrier should automatically mail you a complete policy within two to three weeks (if that long). Also, if you are interested in knowing the specifics of an insurance policy before binding coverage, you can ask your agent for a "Speciman Policy". Hope this answers you questions.

Thanks!

Speciman Policies are unique to each Insurance Carrier. Your best bet would be to contact the agent you are working with and ask them for a copy of your policy. If your policy has not yet been issued, they should still be able to supply you with a speciman policy for the Insurance Carrier that your vessel will be written through.

Thanks!

Yes, copy emailed with binder.

You should ALWAYS get a copy of your FULL insurance policy shortly after binding coverage. When and in what forms depends on your carrier. Some of the carriers we work for mail it to our agency first then we have to distribute out a paper copy. Some carriers skip the agent and send direct to the insured and others will be a digital copy through email. In any event, you should always have a full copy. Your policy is your contract with the insurance company. You need to know WHAT your policy says.

Hope this helps.

OH, also, make sure you have a copy of your signed application that you submitted/signed when you bought the policy.

When you get the application, make sure everything on it is 100% accurate. This is often times the first place an insurance company will look for information when a claim occurs.

I got mine yesterday from Stacy. It is a full 32 page document that pretty much spells everything out. Ray Charles could read and understand this one.

Stacy,

Thanks again it was a pleasure working with you on this. The easiest transaction I have had in years!!
