Default Insurance for Center Console boats with a "cat" hull

Do the insurace companines put a center console with a "cat" hull in the same category as a performance cat? See the thread:

Good question and the answer depends on the insurance carrier. For example, Progressive would see this as a cat botton which means they would probably decline coverage. Markel would see this as a cat bottom (which is no problem), but since it's a center console, we could write the policy in their Helmsman Yacht Program which offers significantly lower rates. American Modern generally does not offer coverage on cats, but they would see this cat as a sportfish/center console and they would be able to cover it. American Modern also makes exceptions for most party cats. So, to answer your question, most of the insurance carriers (at least the ones we represent) will not rate a center console cat as a performance cat.

Thanks!
