No where. A friend owns a large body shop/towing co. in NY and we were having this same conversation last week.

That is what happen to me. My credit score went down due to a Credit card that wasn't mine. My Progressive insurance was the only reason I found out about it. I got it removed and it went back down. Better check.

No Offense Todd but... that is not good advice to forum members at all... St. Paul has a max speed of 50mph. The majority of forum members here have boats capable of well over 50mph. Also St. Paul is on moratorium for gulf waters....

Stacy, what insurance carriers do you represent?

Do you still represent Progressive? and if so, how has your experience been with them on performance boats?

Has anyone on this thread had an insurnace claim with your insurance carrier on their boat? I bet there are very few so it could be that we are ALL knocking on wood.

I have never had a claim on any of my boats....knock, knock...I hope my carrier treats me fair if there ever was one.

Our agency chooses to represent the following carriers:

- American Reliable
- American Modern
- Lloyds of London
- ACE Rec Marine
- St. Paul Travelers
- Safeco (non performance)
- Progressive (only in a small amount states)
- Pacific Specialty
- Old United (pending)
- Foremost/Zurich

Those are the main ones. We have a couple of others depending upon the state.

Progressive is not technically a performance boat insurance carrier and they do not represent themselves as one. My view is that if you have a specialized boat such as a performance boat then you should look to insuring your boat under a "specialized" policy offered by a performance boat insurance carrier. Best advice i can give boat owners is don't try to "force" your boat into an insurance program just to save a couple hundred bucks, it's just not worth it come claim time... IMO.

This is very true and good advise.

remember, that although you may save a couple of $$ now, if you need to file a claim, most carriers today will have thier adjusters all over your policy like a bad smell.

Let them find a loophole in the policy, and you're denied.

Do it right.

If you can afford the boat/fuel/maintenance, you can afford the insurance.
