First: Eligibility - Carrier Options To my knowledge there are 2 insurance carriers that will write a policy for a Skater under 26 ft.... IF the top speed is under 100mph per DM, and you have ownership experience then you "should" qualify for Markel Small Boat. - We can help you here. - Again, please note you have to qualify for their program. If you're over 100mph top speed, then we have a market for that, again, I can help. Second: Price "reasonably priced" .... hmmm, what do YOU consider to be a reasonable price? ;) If you're over 100mph... it's going to be expensive to be honest. When you don't have many carrier options, price negotiation isn't really possible. I don't know specifics on your skater so I can't even begin to suggest pricing. Not sure if we've talked but I'd be willing to discuss some options and ideas and find out more about you and your boat. Call me tomorrow to discuss. Stacy |
Hi Al,
Stacy is correct, insurance for the smaller skaters is only offered by two carriers. We quote/write alot of smaller cats through Markel's small boat program. The maximum speed allowed is 100 mph. Pricing for the small boat program is generally set in stone because the company has to file their rates with the state. This leaves very little room for discounts. The rate will depend on your age, vessel speed, vessel storage location, and area of use. If you would like a quote or need additional information feel free to contact our agency; give us a call at 800-759-2628 or you may also request a quote online using our quote request form, the link is listed below in our signature. Thanks! Adam |
So is it easier to insure a 28 Skater, 30 Motion, etc compared to a 24 Skater?

in my opinion... yes. Especially if the speed doesn't exceed 140mph and you"re not in FL or a first time CAT owner :)
