how is "seaworthy" insurance ???
I recently was very pleased when geico told me they would write a policy on a boat I was looking to buy
but now I am ready to go through with the purchase and I learned that it isn't written by geico but it is seaworthy anyone have any experience with them ??? |
I have them also, but I have never had to make a claim.
Be sure to read in the quote, if it's agreed value, or diminishing value . . . . somewhere along those lines. |
i have the same . havent filed a claim , but they have been easy to deal with as far as setup and bill pay go .

Seaworthy Insurance Company is a Berkshire Hathaway company. They write an Actual Cash Value pleasure boat policy on vessels up to 55mph. If you're in their yacht program then you'll get the agreed value policy. There are so many more options in the state of NY... why Seaworthy?
What about the new program available with Foremost? They will give you Agreed value and write it on an awesome policy form. |
Seaworthy is part of/referred to Gieco and Boatus..I'm having a real hard time dealing with Seaworthy currently. They NEVER call back, claim documents have "disappeared", tell me one thing one day and complete opposite the next. Very frustrating on this claim. Two months already and they will "call me back" to give me a status. I need to go another route now. Any suggestions? Is there a complaint dept in NY State? How to appeal a claim if they are preparing me for "your boat wasn't covered due to electrical issue (then fire)". We have no way of knowing what caused my fire(s) -according to arson investigator report.

Funny my last boat now ex-wife insured it and when they sent her the form to fill out she checked it off as not seaworthy. Company canceled the policy because the boat was not seaworthy.
Boat was fine on a lake but wife was not about to go out to sea in a 21' boat therefor it was not seaworthy:lolhit: |
I have seaworthy and gave me agreed value so far as policy set up and paying no issues. I had foremost before and they were nice as well, but they raised my premium 23% in two years. No claims on any insurance policy no tickets no nothing. Boat and I only got older. I can see inflation raising it. Seaworthy is saving me $150 a year cheaper and thats comparing line by line same coverage across the board. But I cant speak to the claims process etc.

right thanks and I understand and you know insurance is a calcuated risk. I could pay 150 more for 10 years which is 1500 dollars, and if I get screwed by another company im only in the whole if ithe damage that wont be covered is more than 1500. But the same token, If something happens and Im stuck with a 5 grand bill that 150 bucks will seem like childs play. I get both points and like I just said its a calculated risk ,and insurance is gamble. Ive had them all over the years, and to be honest USAA is by far the best on anything no issues its to bad they dont have their own boat insurance, beyond them I wouldnt count anything as a sure bet when it comes to getting covered by some of these companies.
