If your father or grandfather, or your wife's father or grandfather are veterans then you can qualify for USAA. You don't have to be active or a veteran yourself. One of my best friends wife's grandfather is a veteran so that's how they have USAA.
here is the eligibility, I dont think grand parents work unless your parents established an account using their parents vet status or your grand parents. Then you would have to work it off your parents. But if your dad was in the army sign up.

Yep, I'm active and have my boat and cars financed and insured with USAA and those rates are hard to beat, but they suck for mortgages and homeowners insurance. I have my mortgage and homeowners with another bank and another insurance agent. My friend and his wife do the same thing, vehicles with USAA and mortgage and homeowners through other bank, broker.
Yup Im a vet just got out. Their insurance is untouchable by anybody, you get calls or speels from other companies and as soon as they know about your insurance they walk away. But as far as loans they are either the best or top 2-3 out on the market. The ease of use on anything is incredible, I could ask for a loan today and depending on the loan have money in my account or check in hand today or tomorrow at the latest.
Yes their homeowners and mortgages are terrible, I guess its one place they have decided to take a hit on. Their still not at the bottom, the mortgages are terrible due to their closing cost, and their home owners is about 40% more than I pay now. Personal loans are also a little high.
But if you havent checked, look at pen fed sometime, their rates are usually better than USAA's. But they can be a pain to deal with sometimes, usually a lot more paperwork.

I have Grandfathers on both side's of my family that were in the Military, will they do a 20 year term under 100k?

And the longest I think they do is 180 months for 35k-100k
