Insuring 2001 Baja Outlaw 29

Hi I am looking to get insurance on my baja outlaw 29. I am 24 and a first time boat owner, although I've been boating and operating my parents boats for 10+ years.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a writer? I have been getting quotes for 1500+ a year and think this is a bit high. (but maybe I'm clueless):angry-smiley-044:

24 with a performance boat, Good Luck. But I use Foremost if you haven't tried them. By the way if you haven't taken a boater safety course. DO IT.

Give Devin and team a call at Wozencraft. Just google them. The folks on this forum who make recommendations are all dealing with some top notch insurance agents/writers. Best of luck...

Call Andy , he will get u covered .. Tom

Big news from Elton Porter!
I am very excited to announce that I have joined the team at Elton Porter, soon to be known as EP Insurance. As many know I have a lengthy performance boat back ground. EP has been in the insurance business since 1930, many of us in the office are actual performance boaters with some having race experience behind them. I will still be specializing in performance marine.

Here's the best part, I now have more options then ever before! All of my programs are focused directly at the type of boater we are, the OSO crowd. While many agency's are losing carriers and programs we are picking up more performance programs then ever before. I have three different carriers for the ultra performance, 150 +++mph and several more that are very completive in picking up market share for everything else that floats, we truly do write it all.

If I insured you before, I thank you for your business I am still here to service you and handle your renewals. For those of you that I haven't had the opportunity to put together a proposal for yet, please feel free to give me a call at renewal time. I will work up a comprehensive and competitive rate for you. It's as simple as you can just e mail me your renewal. No matter what agency you are with now I can service your renewal policy for you. I will always do my best to get you the very best coverage for the least amount of money!

I can always be reached 7 days a week at my direct line 310-480-4285, or toll free 800-759-2628.
[email protected] for those that have my previous e mail [email protected] that works just as good.

Thank you, I look forward to seeing many of you at poker runs and shows this year!!

As always guys.. thank you! for the support :) Love my clients :)

I can help you on your boat, no problem. If you are young and getting a performance boat you might have to "pay your dues" for a couple years before rates head down for you but as you gain experience and establish ownership history you can, (with the help of an agent that has the ability to move you around) move to other carriers that offer better rates/terms to go along with the experience you have gained.

What kind of motors? Make sure they are quoting the correct hp. Surprised its 1500 but there are a ton of factors.
Also explore plenty of "what if" scenarios as to where the boat is declared stored and used. Plug n play quote people are no smarter than the answers you give to the questions that appear on their screen.
Always surprises me, people that purchase anything then start looking for insurance. Insurance should be a factor in any buying decision unless money is no object.
What seems like a great deal often shows why it is priced the way it is.

See if your dad will carry the policy and make you an approved operator?
His stern warning to not screw it up and the added pressure to not disappoint may be enough to temper young hormones and temptations.
I know I have my stories.......
