Insurance for a 29 Fountain with 525sc
Progressive has a list of standards that must be certified as a condition for insurance. I am wary of the speed declaration of 75 max and a limit of 500 hp.
I know better than to make false claims undercutting speed and horsepower. I have great hopes that the boat will be faster than 80 with a good setup and a few minor mods for dependability. That being said, speed is directly affected by weight. Do you declare speed based on low fuel, no passengers, and cold weather. Or do you declare speed on full fuel, 1000 lbs of passengers and gear, and very high heat and humidity. I would expect expect at least 8-10 MPh difference.
I realize that it costs to play but an 80 mph 29 Fountain should not be hard to insure.
I am 62 years old, 800 plus credit score with no accidents or tickets in the last five years, and have over 40 years experience with high performance (60-80 mph) boats.
I would appreciate any guidance in securing insurance on my less than 300 hour 1998 29 Fountain.

I have USAA for everything so when I got my 29 with 454s I went to USAA. Well they use Progressive as their boat insurance. I sent them a check for $1100 for full coverage 23 days later I got a cancellation notice and a check for $830. F*** Proripoff. I did go with Foremost. I got even better coverage for less money. I now have my 35 insured with Foremost.

The best option for your boat would be with Foremost. They rock when it comes to single engine mid performance boats. Second in line for that would be American Reliable Insurance (both of which I can rate you with). The only thing I will say about Foremost is that when they rate, they rate based on your insurance/credit score... American Reliable wont credit rate. Again, either carrier would be great. If you need help, let me know. I am happy to help

I got a good policy at a very good price from Stacy. The whole process was quick and professionally handled. I would highly recommend her for boat insurance. Thanks again Stacy.

I have a 2000 with a single 500. I have progressive through my local insurance company as they shop all my policys to different carriers. I think it was about $950. We only have about a 6 month season. They did send me a check this summer for 4 grand to cover a new lower unit and prop... Lake Winni was a little low this season. Goes with my new motor i guess
