Can't find insurance for an older performance boat

Who's writing policies on older performance boats anymore? Having a hard time finding coverage for an 86 Scarab we recently purchased.
So far, Progressive and Marcell are the only ones that will write for it. Progressive was liability only and Marcell was restricted to a few Midwest states, excluding Lake Michigan.
Anyone having better luck?

If the boat is above average condition in a formal survey Andy may be your man.

Call Stacy at Wake Zone

I'm going to suggest Fremont Insurance, they're based in Indiana. They've been very fair with me.

F-2 Speedy 07-11-2017 05:15 PM

problem with Foremost is they will only write a 100k liability...........and be prepared to have it surveyed.......just been through all of this.....good luck

Check with State farm. They gave me the best price on my 88 fountain with a agreed upon value.

I also tried to get my older scarab cc insured. Everywhere I called wanted more than my 1250 hp formula.

She would not insure my 95 Fountain because it was too old.

My understanding is they changed their cutoff age a few months ago. My 95 Formula is insured through them, but I started with them prior to the change.

Foremost no longer insures boats beyond the 15 yr mark. They recently changed the cutoff age. Not to mention jacked rates up 25% on grandfathered policies. I know mine went way up.

I was told that a new company is coming into the insurance game that will insure old boats but the deal hasn't been inked yet.

Andy is your man. He helped me with my older 28 Skater with no cat time.

I have full coverage via GEICO on my 311. Hassle-free policy with enough coverage to meet my boatel's requirements.

formula1 11-24-2017 05:24 PM

Before I bought my 96 303, I got quotes on a 1989 311 too from both Geico (BoatUS) and Progressive. I went Progressive since they were so easy to deal with and basically same price/coverage as Geico.
