No doubt The boat is totaled . Insurance is only going to give you book value. The only way to come out for the better is to retain salvage and buy the boat back. That amount is usually 10 percent of the value or less. Then part the boat out or use your power for something else. I am in the collision repair business so i deal with this kind of stuff fairly often. Jeff wurl |
Hope it works out in your favor. I'm thinking you might be lucky the tire bundle hit your bout and not your bedroom. |
Regarding the damage to your house, get a structural engineer involved if damage moved brick and windows. Seems like overkill but adjusters take their word as to the extent of damage more than a contractor that may just assume the damage is just localized to the visible cracks and window
Insurance will agree for the engineer to be involved. |
Sorry bout the bad luck

If you have a shop that you use, take the boat to them and ask if they can write and estimate of repairs if repairable. If not have them show the adjuster the bills for what you had just done to the boat. Insurance companies cannot tell you who to use for repairs, and you do not need multiple estimates. Know what you are entitled to! I also would not recommend using your insurance to negotiate for you, I would deal directly with the company covering the truck that caused the damage. They want to get out as quickly as possible. Not sure of the total value of your loos or if you are comfortable dealing with insurance company? If not and it is a sizable claim, you might want to get a lawyer or a public adjuster to handle, that will add time though. Just my opinion, use it for what its worth!

I had a nightmare claim from hell against Progressive when my boat got rear-ended in traffic. So some folks want to complain about insurance fraud? That works both ways. Not going to rehash the whole story but parts were stolen off my boat and parts/labor was invoiced but never performed by a crooked shop working in cahoots with my Progressive adjuster. Thank goodness I had lots of "before" pics including numbers and could prove the fraud. When I threatened to bring a lawyer into the mix the phantom repairs were done "again." Look out for yourself, OP, the insurance company sure won't look out for you!

Still working with insurance.
So far so good. I got estimates and the insurance company seems eager to help. I'm not trusting anything yet till I hear the quotes and see a check. Will update what happens. So far it's 300 to fix my rental roof shingles and 1600 to seal bricks and fix windows quotes i got. As long as they do decent on the boat I'll be lucky. Thanks for all the responses. Great group here. 🖒

Silver,
What’s the scoop on the driver leaving the scene , he didn’t notice his truck coming apart? If a company truck or trailer is there any chance of them making things right? |
