BUT, you NEED to TALK to your AGENT. You can't just hit a website to get these answers. I, like Dan, have a State Farm agent who has pages of my insurance policies. He happens to be a gearhead too. And every though I don't own a boat at the moment, I still carry an cheap agreed value insurance policy and liability on the last one, a cat no less; just so I don't have "gap in coverage" or "boat ownership" to keep my boating resume up to par for when I am done racing cars, and ready to do something dumb like buy a boat again.

I talked to my Farmers agent about this this morning and She said NO, Umbrella is over and above the standard boat policy.........My Total D policy is due in a couple days but the boat hasn't been in the water since Oct last year............:sport009:

I was told I can`t get a umbrella policy unless the boat is insured with State Farm. if it isn`t then it would not be covered under the umbrella coverage.
Seems like a bad umbrella, more like a hat .

Dan, all my agent had to do was attach the boat declaration page to the umbrella policy get it approved and it was done, guess other agencies do it differently, besides SF cant insure your boat nor can Farmers insure mine.

It didn`t make sense to me either.

WRT State Farm...
...it ALL depends on your agent. Maybe the catamaran is automatically a no go.

But my agent wrote my 37' AT up as a 'cabin cruiser' and told me to "take pictures that makes it look less pointy."
She was a gem though, and totally took care of EVERYTHING for me.
Bringing her flowers a few times made all the difference. :D
She became ill, retired, and we lost touch. But she TOTALLY set the standard.

I now have another agent who is awesome as well.

This is EXACTLY what my agent did with my Nordic...he told me state farm is automatic no go on performance boats...said to take pics that don't "make it look so fast" hahaha I did ask what would happen if something were to happen and they found out what it really is and it's basically an agreed upon value....they wrote the policy so it will pay out the max value and nothing more in the event of a total loss.

Don't think there's any way to make the Kitty Kat look "not fast" in pictures hahahaha
