That was great, thanks for posting... But now I gotta get the drool out of my keyboard.... :D

fabricator 11-29-2007 09:35 PM

Way cool. Thanks.

jeff32 11-29-2007 11:26 PM

that is interesting! Always wished I could build some too!

CMC 11-30-2007 09:18 AM

Great to see the process. Can we get some interior / dash shots !!

Here's a pic before the dashes are put in. We're going to build the next 26 without the inserts and do the dash like a Cig Gladiator.

CMC 11-30-2007 11:25 AM

So the dash will be flat all the way across and it will be a sit down? Will there still be room to crawl into the bow section? Perhaps with a small cabin?
THAT could be cool.:cool-smiley-011:

Like this.......

CMC 11-30-2007 12:34 PM

If there is any way you could leave the center pod out, and have access to the forward section, it would be really functional . I think people want a sit down rocket, but also would like somewhere to crib !! I know I would be interested. Just my 2 cents.

Jigsaw89 11-30-2007 06:08 PM

Thanks for the build vid. Will your next 28' (thats cockpit will resemble a gladiator) have an access hatch to the bow section for storage purposes? Keep up the good work!
Dan

THEJOKER 11-30-2007 10:37 PM

We could do a 28 with the same dash as the Gladiator. That would be cool!

CMC 12-01-2007 11:25 PM

Joker, maybe something like this !!!:D

I like that. Thanks for posting!

jdub 12-02-2007 08:19 AM

Brian, how do you fasten your dashes? Also how do you finish off the edges where they meet the cockpit once fastened?

THEJOKER 12-02-2007 09:41 AM

We glass them in . The new 28 we're building we glassed them from the back and front. Sanded and finished to perfection.

jdub 12-02-2007 10:14 AM

cool, thanks.

cosmic12 12-03-2007 11:18 AM

It appears in the slide that you only gelcoated one half of the mold before starting the layup is that true? Or was the photos?

THEJOKER 12-03-2007 11:22 AM

No we spray the entire mold w/ gelcoat before laminating.

Why do you still use wood? why no coreing? Just courious, looks nice, clean.

The 26 is the only non cored boat we've built. You don't need a flighty , light weight 26 to run in the ocean. We built that boat for Tyler Crockett and we knew he would put some good power in it. We could build a light weight 26 if somebody wanted a lake boat.

THEJOKER 12-03-2007 01:56 PM

Oh on the wood. A good friend of mine aka Will Smith at Phantom taught me to always use 2 3/4 inch marine grade plywood sheets for transom and multi layers of glass. Do it right and nothing is better. We use fiberglass stringers though.

excalibur32 12-03-2007 01:57 PM

OK what about the wood? If a customer wanted coosa board instead would that be a viable option?

THEJOKER 12-03-2007 02:19 PM

I've used coosa composites and it's good stuff. I've used it for stringers and transoms. Yes I would use it if a customer wanted it.

Now you're talking...bring it! Are you putting the dash on the boat you have built already? Can't wait to see it!

By the way...don't stop what you guys are doing. Great looking product. Esp. the old school, new built 26.

THEJOKER 11-23-2010 03:27 PM

The boat is for a member on here. He'll chime in shortly. It's gonna be a cool boat.
