Kryptonite gas tanks?

What are the Kryptonite gas tanks made of ? Is anyone having any trouble with theirs leaking like the older Skaters?

Thanks

Mine is Aluminum. I cant speak for all of them, but the ones that i have crawled around on have all been aluminum. No way to tell if they are leaking other than a strong gas odor, which i have not experienced.

some were built with fiberglass tanks, as was mine but u would know cause u would have problems with the inside delaminating and your fuel filter would show signs of actual resinated flake! big problems...

Hi KN, My boat is an 04 with a fiberglass tank. When I bought the boat in 05 I freshened the motor - It had a fiberglass tank. When I checked inside I saw that there was a problem, the tank was coming apart . I talked to Curt about it & he advised me to changed the filter or add another one to it, and he said it would clear up - I burnt up two cylinders. I went back to Curt and he said that he would do good on it - never did! Mark Sneff sent me boat regulations on how that tank should have been built. Once I faxed Curt a copy, he returned my call instantly. He met me half way on the price Mark Sneff quoted me to do the job it was $2,500. Mark did a perfect job. If you need it done, have him do it! I will back him 100%. Hope this helps. Tom

Let's see some pictures of your boat Turtle. Also, where do you boat?

turtle, the tank kirk built in the krypto was layed up in the actual design of the hull, and id be willing to argue any other boat builder will slam the manufacturer and claim design flaw to get u in the door! the fact is the problem stemmed from the added ethenole in the fuel that ate away the fiberglass. unless a bladder or aluminum tank was the replacement no other remedy to my knowledge is a possibility, i heard of this problem in other fiberglass tank boats. kirk is a standup guy and if he knew of such regulations of sort he wouldnt have put aluminum tanks in the few kryptos whom customers did have him crack open and repair, my friend was one who did speak with him and had him fix the problem. only aprox 5-6 were built with a fiberglass tank from 03- 05

When I had mine, the gasket on the top of it (fuel pickup) deteriorated and I had to replace it.
