Default 29' kryptonite air vent on the back

so above my swim platform there is a chrome vent running the width of the boat but behind it is solid fiberglass. on anyone else's boat is there ventilation there to relief air from the engine compartment? because in my eyes right now the side intake vents from the hull and engine hatch scoops the air is going in and then mostly being taken in my motor but wouldn't some build up in there and act like a parachute? thoughts? if anyone posts pics of the stern of their boat that would be appreciated
