F1-11

I just ended up buying the old laveycraft F1-11 race boat. I was just wondering if anyone out there knew some info on the boat? Thanks for your help.

POOL WHORE 05-26-2008 11:21 AM

Congrats, dude!

I spoke with LBYS 2 months ago and they said the bank would like to see the boat go for "somewhere in the mid 20Ks". I just noticed that the price had fallen below the 20K mark. I was going to visit the yard up Beach Blvd. this morning to haggle with them. I guess that you saved me a trip.

The little Lavey is well-built with the balsa cored hull. I was surprised to see how clean the hull was considering the history of the race boat and how many times across the country she has been. Even the trailer looks solid.

Good luck with the purchase. Are you planning on racing the boat?

Hugh

stoltz 05-26-2008 09:25 PM

don't know what we are going to do with it yet. One of those deals you cant pass up. I have tried to do some research on the boat, it looks like it had a good life. The hull is very solid only has one stress crack that I can see. I think that we are going to put a big motor in it and go scare the chit out of myself. What do these boats run with a 525 in them? Do you think its a waste to put alot of power in this hull?

POOL WHORE 05-27-2008 08:25 AM

The boat is solid and light. No need to have extreme power. When the guys had a 525 EFI bolted in the boat, she was touching 90. Even with a 496 HO, Bobby said he was in the low 80s. There is a classic sequence shot of the 2004 World's in Key West of the boat "tripping" and submerging the nose at speed. One photo is in Powerboat's tribute to Tom Newby that was recently published.

Have fun! And be safe!

JPD Motorsports 05-27-2008 01:58 PM

do you have a pic of it? is it the one that faster daddy has/had?

stoltz 05-27-2008 11:35 PM

It looks just like the pic of the boat at the top of the offshoreonly page. f1-11 is what the boat says. It also says 2003, 2005 world champion. All the decals are pulled off the boat, but you can still see part of them in the sun. Still trying to dig up info on the boat.

JPD Motorsports 05-28-2008 08:54 PM

boat ran like a champ on rails around the course. check with Kevin Cooper at LaveyCraft. I know the owner and the boat a little. What type of info u looking for?

stoltz 05-28-2008 11:04 PM

I guess the history of the boat. And also what the boat ran with a 525 in it. Originally we were going to make a pleasure boat of of it, but now I dont know what we are going to do. I have a big superchared engine that I thought would be fun in the boat. But it seems that the boat has alot of history.

JPD Motorsports 05-29-2008 10:24 PM

They ran the boat with a raylar motor in the LOTO shoot out a year or two back cant remeber the speed. I know in 05 The old owner would take that boat to Lavey and have them go thru it and the trailer a few times that season even before Key West and after. Everytime it pulled in the pits a full washdown was instore along with everytime put up on the trailer. With the inovation motor that was in it 05 it was a mid 80's boat set up for F1.

stoltz 05-30-2008 10:39 PM

what about 1100 horses in the boat what do you think it will run?

rchevelle71 05-30-2008 11:09 PM

Very clean boat, I have seen it up close, even towed it around the pits a few times with my truck when they used to tow it out from cali with the motor home. They always took great care of that thing, heck I think I even washed it a time or 2:D

stoltz 05-30-2008 11:42 PM

Ya it looks great, we are getting ready to take it off the trailer and redo the trailer it looks a little rough. Other than that I think we are just going to buff it and go play.

JPD Motorsports 05-31-2008 09:30 AM

rchevelle71 whom are you i was with amf back in 05. 1100hp in it would be a ride!!

I am Rick, ran with Scotty back in his Pantera, crewed for Trent in the AMF 29 Fountain last year and this year.

stoltz 06-02-2008 07:17 PM

What hull do you think will be faster my velocity 26 or this hull?

kcooper 06-04-2008 06:06 PM

2750 Race Boat

If you have any questions feel free to call me any time. I know every inch of that boat. 714-612-3378

In flat water the 26 velocity, But in anything over 2' the LAVEY hands down.

ToMorrow44 06-17-2008 11:30 PM

This is a 2750 hull correct? They are extremely fast boats. Putting 1100hp in it would be an interesting ride, but good luck getting a drive to live on that thing. I know a guy with an open bow 2750 with an 800efi and runs mid 90s. If your boat is lighter (less cabin, amenities, etc) it will run way faster. I agree with Kevin, you can't beat those boats in the rough water and obviously they have the track record to prove it. If you're thinking about a new 525 package for the boat, take a look at Teague and TPI and I bet you can get an 800efi for around the same price with a drive. Keep us updated.

I also own a 2750 and am very happy with it. I had some bottom work done and with a Whippled 500EFI, an Imco 2" shorty, AFR heads, and a hering prop, the boat GPS'd 97.6 with more left(ran out of room). No tabs had to be used either- a great ride.
Hey Kevin, how are you doing since leaving Lavey?

Bullhead 06-18-2008 11:56 AM

I actually own the original F1-11...it is a 29 nuera and was the 2001 world champion...that was when factory racing was at its pinnacle...there were 15-18 boats in just the f1 race...I bought it from the lavey factory (when they went to the 2750) and the hull was perfect...fantastic boat in the rough..and it needs a new home http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o22224-en.html

hotlavey 06-18-2008 03:41 PM

As I already own one I do not need another- but I sure would take one of those homes in your ad, man what a beautifull area.

What kind of power are you or were you getting with that set-up? Very nice looking too.

stoltz 06-21-2008 12:37 AM

Thanks for the pics of the boat. I talked to Kevin for a bit the other day and he was trying to find the other hatch for the boat.
If anyone out there knows where the hatch is I would like to try buying it.

Nick

What did you end up doing with this Lavey? Did you get her running with the big motor?

Hugh

stoltz 01-31-2010 09:51 PM

We ended up putting a 550 horse 509 in it. We really haven't ran it very hard just broke it in, but we are taking it to desert storm 2010. We are going to see how this works first then we will put a big blown motor in it

stoltz 01-31-2010 09:54 PM

Desert storm 2010

Is anyone else going to desert storm ?

lavey jr 02-01-2010 11:12 PM

I'm going.
I'll most likely be in the 39 evo

stoltz 02-03-2010 01:59 PM

Is this Chris or his son? Do you know of any other laveycrafts coming?

stoltz 02-07-2010 03:15 PM

Racerngr1 09-10-2010 10:50 AM

Any other updates on this boat?

stoltz 04-18-2011 11:50 PM

Sorry don't get on here much. The boat has been done for awhile now, but were about to pull it back apart and put more power on it. Great boat run to drive but want to get more out of it.
