Quent 12-27-2008 02:00 PM

Lavey Craft

Is is a 2750 or a 29? Two different models.

DaBank 12-27-2008 03:28 PM

It is a 29, If you go to Lavey's website and look under 29' NuEra OFFSHORE it is the last photo white/blue/yellow boat.:drink:

Schweeng 12-29-2008 02:41 PM

I've had 2 29s - I would say you might get 60k in this market...it is going on 6 years old!

Its (as you know) very soft. You can buy a whole lot of boat (with twins) for another 10-20k more...

My number is just a guess.

29 twin

Schweeng, I am looking for a 29 Lavey with twins. Any idea where I might find one? I have had a 27 Sabre and now have a 24 with a 710 Ilmor. Looking to trade if possible. I appreciate your help. Quent 865 705 4948

Schweeng 01-05-2009 11:03 AM

Quent - I'll let the guy who bought my 29 with twins know that you are interested.

I believe there are only 3 - 29's with twins every made.

Chris

29 Twins

Sweenge, thank you. I appreciate your help. Thanks, Quent

Schweeng 01-06-2009 11:58 AM

Hi - Owner of the twin 29 is Gary - 714.846.5625

Good luck!

Quent 01-12-2009 11:16 AM

Schweeng, thanks. I talked to Gary yesterday. We are both thinkin'

Best regards, Quent

DaBank 01-12-2009 02:27 PM

I am thinking of putting my 29ft with a 525 up for sale, in this market I was hoping it might still be worth $75k. Let me know what you guys think.Frank

Quent 01-12-2009 03:18 PM

Frank, try NADA online. That might give a starting point. Quent

DaBank 01-12-2009 05:13 PM

I just talk to Chris the owner of Lavey Craft and he said to list it at $75k that is a fair price even in this market I am going to take it there and have it service and checked out by them and have it detail. I might leave it there for a couple of weeks after the LA Boat Show in Febuary that way people from the show can see it if they go to the factory. Frank :ernaehrung004:

Schweeng 01-14-2009 01:07 PM

DB - Post a picture of your 29.

DaBank 02-03-2009 05:46 PM

29 Lavey

DaBank, thank you for the pictures. Here is where I am coming from. I want a 29 with twins. If we were able to come to terms on your 29 I will spend significant dollars converting the rig to twins, converting the boat to a mid cuddy bow rider, adding a windshield and transporting the rig to Tennessee.

I know that all this is not your problem but this is where ia am coming from. We will see. Quent

Beautiful boat! What's it run with the 525?

If you were a repo lot I'd be sending you bids right now for way less.:party-smiley-004:

Seriously though, I do wish this was in my range as it is something I would be very interested in.

From my perspective I think your pricing is fair. However, fairly priced boats aren't moving too fast. There are quite a few deals out there that make it tough for people who aren't forced to sell.

For example, when you're competing with this
http://www.yachtauctions.com/detail.asp?stockNo=20235
it is tough to get fair value. On the other hand if someone wants a Lavey 29 and has the money, it could sell quick.

DaBank 02-05-2009 06:54 PM

This boat runs high 70's all day long. It is like new and is a really great boat. Make me a offer on it........

I don't have PM here, I'll ask you a few questions though if you drop an email here or if you're on another site that can PM?

Thanks,

Rick

Good point- The lavey 29 is beautiful, and I know the brand so I know what you'd be getting for the money.
I went to the sunsation site and the links don't work so I cant really find out what Id like to know to determine what it really is. and I dont see much detail discussion on their boards here...........

Maybe you could tell me (or someone) then I can figure out how close that boat is in the auction to what the Lavey offers. I am not slamming or praising anyone, Id just like to know how sunsation builds their boats

Does sunsation vacuum bag- Or hand layup?

Is the swim step included in the length, or the nose?

What is the oa length?

What is the core material of the boat foam or balsa - depending on what then what material exactly or weight ?

Are the two halves of the boat joined while in the mold - or are they removed and aligned later.

How much wood other than maybe core is in the boat, and where?

Is the boat fully interlined?

How much time is spent curing in the mold?

Is this an in house design- who designed the mold. How old is the mold?

Is the finish paint- or gelcoat? Stickers? done in house?
Is it custom or will you see yourself 10 time every weekend.

How many boats do they build per year?

what is their hull warranty?

How exactly are the seats bolted down?

How long have the people running sunsation been there, and how long have they been in business. Is the guy that sold this boat still there?

Is every boat built by staff employees or do they use part time piece workers?

Who makes the interior?

The Sunsation looks very nice, and Ive never heard anything bad about them, so I couldn't tell you if 50K is what it should be, or if its a deal.

Just Curious- id like to know.........

I don't know the technical answers to most of your questions.

I'll try and answer what I can.

The swimstep is in the length, so it's more like a 30'. It's a hand layup, custom build with paint. The painter, Mitcher T, has a very good rep. Their is some reuse of designs, but you won't see them everywhere like a production boat. The interiors are done by McLeod and are very nice, but with a smaller/limited cabin in the Dominator models compared to the newer SS.

They are built here in MI, and have a fulltime staff I believe. They are run by two brothers that have the best customer service out there (I'd guess better than Lavey's which I know West coast people love). They've been around for a long time and will continue to be. Everything I've read indicates fit and finish to be very good. Basically, they are custom built to order and sold through dealerships and run fast with moderate speed.

If you want your questions answered, their forum on their site is pretty active, and the owners themselves will most likely inform you. Their fans are more like fanatics, and you never hear too much bad. For me, being in the East (MI), there'd be considerably easier resale, but then again there are quite a few Sun's on my lake being the home team so a Lavey would stand out. Basically, Lavey is the only West Coast boat I'm interested in, other than cats.

As for the price, as that's an auction it will most likely go in the 40's. I think that's the "fair" price these days, but if you price them on Boattrader, etc, that is a steal. As a bonus, I really like the paint on that one, which is rare. Now if I could just get the clowns at the place to confirm it's still for sale, and/or return a damn call.
