All the guys I've spoken to that had the Raylar kits love them. Aluminum heads are a must to make a real power on pump gas. Especially in a boat when you are stuck with 87 on the far end of say....lake powell. Around 10:1 is where you need to be at. Kinslers are awesome, and look great. Cant go wrong if you've got the bread, but you wont really gain any HP- youd gain a bit of throttle response, but not much. ....they are awesomely expensive compared to a manifold based efi kit and likely not any real performance benefit at the rpm and setup you are likely to run in a boat. Im guessing youd have 15K into set of kinslers byt the time you were done. If your going to do it then its not about better worse, or cost- you just want it. Im hoping you do it so I can drool over all your cool parts and go for a ride! UD |

Seems to me no matter what you/me anyone/ have now- If you dont happen to own a Kinsler stack injected big block- You still want to own, use, look at, and get semi turgid over - a Kinsler stack injected big block. I have a color matched fuel injected all aluminum 505 CI V10- I still want one. Doesn't everybody need a backup engine? You seen the Raylar 750?Not sure what injection system they have but that's what I'm talking about. That aside- Ray and Larry kits are great and will make you a happy guy. UD |
Marc, I understand the concern that you have looking at an engine build. There are so many options and they all cost lots of money. I am buying a 2750 with a 575sc with 190 hours. I am going to replace it with a Whippled BBC in the 1000hp range. The XR drive is going as well.
The 575 is a good platform to upgrade or use as it is. It comes as a plug and play, exhaust--everything. That might get you in the ball park at $12000 for the engine. We might be able to work a deal on the engine drive as well. Just a thought. You can't beat the Lavey. Call if you have a question 865 705 4948. Best regards, Quent |
thanks Quent
i still need 1 season under my belt in the new sled before i know what i can do with her the build and upgrades im considering are for 2 seasons ahead. as far as the 575 ive heard good things and huge hrs before refresh or rebuild depending on past ownership and how they were driven do you have a history and maintenance records on this motor and if it was baged on or just well driven i will be doing my drive as well the x drive i have now is only good to about 500hp the xr i believe up to about 650, 700 hp grins........ we are somewhat centsless arn't we...... regards Marc |
