Looking at building either a 2750 or 2950 with single power. Already started building 565ci 680-700hp big block fuel injected motor for the project.
I would like to know a honest speed with a 525 merc for both
boats.What should one expect?
How heavy?Any one know?

First off, welcome to the forum! And nice seeing your first post was in the Laveycraft section

2750 Merc 525 will push this boat to the low to mid 80's. It weighs aprox. 4500lbs.

29 Merc 525 this boat would run mid to high 70's and weighs aprox. 5500lbs

Both boats share the same bottom design and LOVE the rough water. They will not be the fastest boats in calmer waters and will actually handle better in choppy water.

Pending on setup (weight,drive,box,X) that HP will push an average 2750 in the low to mid 90's. The 29 will run mid to high 80's

Thank you for your reply.Looks as though either of these hulls
will perform past our expectations.

My wife and I will be going to the LA boat show this Febuary
and hope that both boats will be represented.

Do these hulls benifet from 1" to 2" shorter drive or a stand off
box?
Do they like big props or small spun fast?

We boat at 6200 feet and relize a difference in speed thus the
engine project.Looking for a longer more stable platform,my arm is getting sore from my wifes punches. Like the 24 degree
deadrise. I have had go fast boat for 20 years and It seems the Lavey has what I need in all catagories.

Yes both boats could be ran with a shortie lower. They would benefit from it to a certain point pending how high the X is setup from the factory.
The 2750 works great with a box! There has never been a 29 with a box but I feel it would work great.
Regaurding the props... I have found they work better with a 1.5 gear ratio. So pending power, the pitch will vary...

Yes I am associated with Laveycraft. My name is Chris and I am the son of Chris Camire, co-owner of Laveycraft. I have been around these boats aswell as many other boats all my life. Personally I have many hours of seat time on each Lavey model especially the 2750, 28 evo, 29, 32, and 39 evo.

There has only been one built and 496's in the 29 is the best twin package for that boat! It handles like a dream with no issues what so ever. The boat hops right on plane and accelerates all the way to top speed. In perfect conditions it will hit high 80's. The best I've seen personally was 83mph, 105* weather at Lake Mead, dead calm water, 50+ gallons of fuel, 2 people, and full of typical lake gear... That boat was turning Merc lab 30" bravo 1 on the rev limmiter.

Crazy thing is... The 32 NuEra is only a few mph slower with twin 496's

Thank you for the information Chris. I can hardly wait to see
one up close. After seeing pictures on-line I was really fired
up.
We boat on Lake Navajo which is northern New Mexico and
southern Colorado. Lots of Nordics,Eliminators and Advantage
and have only seen one 24' Lavey Craft.
I would like to ask you another Question.
What exhaust system works well with these boats and stops
reversion?

We mainly use CMI exhaust with straight tails. Inside the tails there is a "flapper" and we also run and external flapper on the exit. We have never had and issues with water reversion.

Lots of guys with 525's dont like CMI as the Merc contract with them had issues with leaking headers.

Almost all the really high perf guys run them though.

The question of reversion is more for the engine builders than Lavey, but you still have to make it all fit in and they do.
