What kind of questions should I be asking about the new motor?

I had a 24 walk through with a Ilmor 700 and it was wonderful. As far as the motor goes, exactly what is a crate 502? Chevy complete engine, long block, short block? Who built it or was it simply assembled.? Can you scan the engine or is it a carb setup? How do you determine the 10 hours claimed? Do a leak down test for sure.

Get someone very knowledgable to look at the engine and do plenty of due diligence. Check the drive as well. The price is reasonable if all checks out but the devil is typically in the details. Good luck.
