Hull Support - Hydrulic lift
 

Okay, being from the east coast, it is seeming to me (from what I am seeing on this forum) that most of you Lavey owners out west keep your boats on the trailer (as opposed to moorings, docks or lifts). I plan to keep mine at our lake house on a Sunstream hydraulic lift to maximize usage given the shortness of our season, not to mention being able to keep it from banging against the dock all day from the wakeboard/boat traffic.

So my issue is the straight bunks on the hydraulic lift not properly fitting the bottom. The manufacturer claims "no problem as the bunks are compliant enough and they have plenty of customers with step bottom performance boats who don't have an issue" so there is no solution from them.

Hate to say it but I'm pretty anal and as unlikely as it may seem, I am not interested in the possibility of distorting the hull profile with long term storage. Especially because the form of distortion would be hook. Heck, if it wasn't an issue, the trailers wouldn't be matched to the bottom.

Long story short, I am going to custom make steped bunks for my lift and was wondering if anyone has done this and knows the offest/gemetry of the stepped bottom. The lift bunks run from the transom 12 ft forward. I figure the guys at the factory likely have detailed information on the geometry but I'm guessing they would be hesitant to provide that given the proprietary nature of the hull. I did some preliminary measurements but want to be as close as possible before cutting a brand new spare set of bunks from the factory (big$$ for them).

I'm sure I can measure it all up using straght edges, lines and tape measures but thought I would ask in case someone has already been down this road with a 2750 Nuera hull.

As I go through the project, I'll post progress just in case someone else is interested. It will be totally custom as I have yet to see a Sunstream lift with a stepped bunk set-up.

I did this to my Basta lift for my Nordic 25 rage with stepped hull. It is really easy. Put your boat on your lift and take some measurements of where the step falls on the bunk. Measure the height of the step on your boat and duplicate the step height on the bunk. Cut the bunk step at the same angle as the step on the boat. Recover the bunks and you are done. Can't the trailer you have give you most of the info needed?
It too needed to be built with steps and hull dimensions as base line...

Definitely can. Although I am trying to get this project done before the boat comes off the trailer. I did crawl around under the trailer to get what I information I could but that was limited without jacking it up high enough to do a decent job.
Push come to shove, that's what I'll do. Just want it to be as close to perfect as I can and while the trailer bunks can be measured, the lift bunks are not on the same centerlines. Figured someone might have the recipe for step heught/angles for standard lift bunk spacing.

I would try calling Lavey. Most trailer Mfgs have drawings for most boats so they can make trailers that fit without requiring the boat, so the info has to be out there.
