Flywithme,I not Magnum 27 but you wanted to taulk about 27 sport singles so here goes.Vixen was a twin like all the rest of the 27s i dont think they made any singles that i know of.She had been sitting in the back of a car lot in the open and the floor was like a sponge,no engs or drives but she had a solid deck an transom.I found out later when i bumpt into her owner that she had been built for the drug trade and he had bought her on a state sale and she was a little different than most 27s and i guess he was right because there was no record of her ever being built at Magnum when we were at the plant.I know about the paper bag thing,i sold more than one boat and had the buyer pay for it out of a shopping bag.Ok i replaced the two 55gal tanks with two 40s and seeing i was going single i put them in front of the eng, worst mistake i made in the whole project.Removed the center support for the 2 eng, and built in 2 new stringers to support the single Merc racing mount, laid new floors and glassed them in.Filled in the transom and cut the new hole for the bravo. Then we went to work on the outside, what a job that was.I ready to start rigging her so took truck and trailer to the state scale came in at 5740# came back loaded the boat and went back came in at 8420# what gave me a hull wght of 2640#,them Arrows dont have a darn thing on the Vixen.I rigged her with a 93 OMC 502 i had in the shop an added a pro charger, second big mistake but this one i could change, she run 82mph though and seeing we were go to race P4 that was ok.I finished up on sept 27 00 went to the scale on the 28th and took her out for the first time on my birthday the 30th,best birthday present i ever had,MAN SHE WAS SWEET. An by the way, seeing im not racing anymore she went 4600#,

Wow, Hi I am out here. I am busy in my 4th year restoring a 1976 27 Sport that was left for dead. I just finished wet sanding and buffing the re-gel on the topside. I am about to cut new key holes for the bravo drives (twins) and rig out. I hope to be in the water this summer. I am fitting out with all new parts except for the 1972 350 LT-1 /450hp engines for that special old school look. I put the gas tanks forward location went with a composit floor (500lbs less wt.) I am running full Latham Hyd. steering to the helm. Should be trick, Magnum owners are alive and well. I wish I had more time to devote to this, but I have to get this project behind me.
