Splashed Magnum
Does anyone know anything about the 27' Magnums with single engines...that were splashed back in the late 70's...by a guy in Mt. Clemens Michigan...what were they called...are any of them still around...what are they worth...and what happened to the molds.
I personaly met the guy...he said he built 25 of them before Magnum and the Feds came and took his molds away. At the time...I beleived his story of loosing the molds... however..since then...I uncovered evidence to the contrary... there where no laws governing splashing. |
Re: Splashed Magnum
I believe they were called "Aero". There was one for sale on E-bay last week, it was located in Mich.

Re: Splashed Magnum
Ya I saw one at the 1,000 Islands Poker Run a few years ago, I thought is was way cool and even made the guy who had it an offer. Since that encounter I started my search and found a 1976 27 Sport in my own home town for Cheap. It was just the shell and in a barn yard, I have been restoring it for 4 years now and hope to "splash" this summer. See ya in Tenn. in Oct.

I believe you are thinking of Lancer Marine. I found this thread by doing a search. Someone on the GD is looking for some info on a specific one right now.

Re: Splashed Magnum
DONZ, Ya I know, but got em on a Mac and need to shrink some how. When I got her she had a stand up farring and center steering. I called Magnum to make sure they did'nt make her that way, then I changed over to a sit down and made my own helm design. I just finished cutting all the holes for gauges, put in the Shifter/Throt. and indicator plate. This weekend I hope to mount the hyd. helm unit, and finish locating the switches. I'll send a picture of the dash soon, hope you guys will like it. Anybody out there got a Bravo cut out Alum template I can barrow/rent?

Re: Splashed Magnum
Sorry, dont have the cockpit done yet, I built a fiberglass faring to replace the plexi so a lot of my gauges are up on that like the Gladiator. I will try to get pictures up this weekend.

Thank you, the helm pod is scratch built from my head and the faring is Nidacore to the orig ht. of the plexi. The gas tanks were left in the orig. location and the covers are also Nidacore as well as the cockpit sole, and custom engine hatch. I figure I saved about 400-600lbs. over 3/4 plywood. The power is vintage era 350 LT-1 450hp twins to new Bravo's with full Hyd. steering and K-tabs.
