sorry for the delay guys .
I found some rot in the transom. With 4 kids , its impossible to get the time to work on it . I am going to start opening the transom in a week .
Anyone with experience doing it ? I figured I would open it from the inside. Any oe done this before ?

Jmemoli,Im going to stick my neck out on this one,but i installed a lot of transoms and floors in a lot of the cheaper boats,and smaller sea rays down here.Now`theres probable 20 guys going to say this is wrong,but this is the way i did it and never had a problem with a comeback.I used a air chisel to cut the inner glass out of the way and see how far the rot went,once i got all the old wood out up to the outer glass i would take the good wood on each side back another 6 to 8 inches only a half inch deep so that my last layer of wood would ty it all together before i glassed it over.I go with half or three quarter ply for each layer using a good mastice inbetween,overlaping the seams each layer and stainless screws to pull the layers together so i now all the mastick is holding.You will find the worst part is getting everything out so you can start doing your repair.I think the most important thing is getting that first layer seald to the transome,after that it gets a lot easyer.Hope this helps,like i said,right or wrong this was the way i did them. thanks for the feedback -
I am not sure if I was going to leave any of the wood in there .I think its pretty bad .
Anyway , I was thinking of making the wood transom in the garage , bonding the entire thing together . I would love to fill the inner layers with balsa to save weight .
When complete , I would then slip it in the boat and use screws to pull it into the back skin of the transom -

IF I use a 4x8 sheet , I am guessing I would have 1 piece per layer . The transom is dam thick also , looked like 3-4 inches .

..sorry to hear this Jerry..the transom was probably the only thing you didn't replace!

..the boat looks/runs awesome..

Good Luck with the work...*btw..we had Rich Sutphen replace the transom on our Velocity..we just got it back..he did a great job with it...
