27-28 magnum models??

I'm confused by the different models...is the flat deck the same as the sport? What is a sedan? Where does the starfire come in? I'm going to have a magum if it kills me...I've been looking seriously at a 27 with twin outboards but also considering buying an older one and restoring it and repowering with a strong big block. Help....

Check out http://www.thunderboatalley.com for pics of Magnums. I believe you want the "Gallery" section.

They made 3 models,a flatdeck, one with a medium cabin and one with a big cabin. the medium cabin one has slanted side windows and progressivly steps up. im 6 foot and almost stand up in mine and there are a few around. ive only seen onebig cabin and it wasent too attractive to me but that is my opinon. the medium one is a cross of performance and cruiser and i enjoy mine, its nice to have that highdeck in front of you and cabin space and performance, plus that ride that a mgnum gives tripps:D :D :D

Magnum 27 Models

Here are the models that I know of:

1. 27 Sport - flat deck with minor changes through the years
2. 27 Starfire - flat deck race boat no rear seating
3. 27 Sedan - low profile stand up cabin (tripps) - also USCG Patrol boat
4. 28 Maltese - "Euro styled" deck with rounded windshield.
5. 27 Center Console - current production
6. 27 Donzi/Magnum - earliest Don Aronow built Magnum race boats.

Go to the thread "27 Starfire" that will clear up some questions you have. The 27' Starfires are pleasure boats with backseats as are the 27' Sports (there were race boat that did not have back seats) but the difference is in the top/deck at the transom, the pictures in that thread do a way better job of describing the difference than my words do. The Sports came before the Starfires, same bottom.

Aggravation don't think they ever cored the bottom...this is one solid tank that can take all the punishement you can dish out. Any of the 27/28's which is a 27 with a little more cabin space which is the design we like the best ,however everyone has their favorites.
We rebuild old Magnums along with the high end graphics we produce in vinyl. We like to start with a fresh hull everything stripped out except for the hardware unique to Magnum then we re -power,electrical and interior and you have a a brand new unit that is better than anything out there. And we are always looking for bare hulls.Go to our web site www.boatwrapzs.com to see our show 28 which will be down in Burnt Store Marina this winter and then over to the Super Bowl races in Feb.Just came back from the Worlds in Key West which we received great aclaides on the design.Everyone thought it was a paint job. We saw this boat when we were in Key West racing our P5-21 Magnum and it is one nice Maltese. Fooled me, I thought it was painted. We came by one evening and checked it out but hate that we missed you. Did you happen to see ours on the coarse?
