The picture in post #1 is a recent photo. This boat has been in Ontario for a long time.
PM me if you're interested in getting in touch with the fellow that's selling the boat.

h2oboater 03-06-2009 08:41 AM

There must be two Magnums painted this way, this OSO post is from March 08.

From Vicious marine, Richard, I used too own your boat before the other guy on this thread, Which is my buddy Ron. Your boat is the oringinal Magnum Starfire brochure boat from 1981.
That boat was leased from Magnum to the DEA as a drug inforcment boat for one year, Then sold to a man named Phil Mebus in detroit and kept at gregory's habor and then it sat a millers marina in the water till I bought it in 1988. It was oringinaly red, white and blue striped and had STARFIRE down the sides. I have seen you trailering it past my shop at north river and I-94 a few times last summer , That boat was always my favorite and one of the best boats I ever owned.
When your in the area please stop by and say hi ! Ron is the one that painted white that boat had a siren right one the tip of the bow you can probably see the inside were it was patched at one time from where it was mounted. Have you notice that the hull is glassed around the intire parameter of the outside ? I got tired of blowing the rubrails of the thing in Lake Huron when the boat flexed. God I love that boat!!
It was balenced just right with the triple tanks , It flew great!
I have two Magnum projects going on in my shop right now that we are restoring and building. Stop by.

oooooooooo, the plot thickens.
I hope these are two different boats, or someone's story is wrong, cuz that original striping is DOPE!

floatingphil 03-06-2009 01:59 PM

Different boats - this is a 78 (info's at home) with 5 tanks I believe.

Stormrider 03-06-2009 03:36 PM

I wish i could PM for you his number.
I am in NO position to buy a boat now. :(
Dang, just seems to be getting worse...
So just post more pics to cheer me up and give me something to keep working for. :D

floatingphil 03-07-2009 06:29 AM

The owner of this boat is recently deceased and the Mag is part of his estate. It is for sale and in storage in Oakville. A good friend of mine was best friends with the owner so he is helping to sell the boat. John is in Florida now and you can reach him at (305)451-3929. Tell him Phil sent ya.
John knows the boat very well, whereas I have never been in it and only saw it with the cover on. In the rough stuff it would leave John's 28 Cig standing still.
Asking price is $33000.00

H2Boater
In the early 80s i saw one in a rack at a marina in Miami for sale. So, i think there may have been at least 2-3 of them painted with the stripes.

Thank You
Jim

ViciousOne 09-21-2009 10:49 AM

Well I would like to get on here more, I end up lurking in the middle of the night. It is just like starting back over from ground Zero here in South Carolina , but all is good doing it all by myself in my pole barn like I did when I started out 15 years ago !

Any idea what the configuration for 5 tanks is? Thanks

ViciousOne 09-25-2009 07:46 PM

My old Starfire had 3 tanks , two a head of the drivers bulkhead and one in the nose. I guess with five tanks you would have to put 2 under the cockpit floor.
I dont think you could do that in my old one, Because the floor was dropped so for down in the hull.
Has Richard with my old Starfire, been on here lately ?
