PART NEEDED 27 Fuel tank stuff

My 27 has the dual tanks under the cabin floor, one of the level gage screw on covers is cracked and won't tighten to seal the tank . . This boat is a 1968, tanks are aluminum, and the level gages are simple cork floats with an spool indicator . . .

Any ideas short of having new caps machined? . . any body have some laying around?

Thank you!!!

Ok,,,take the broken screw out and put in a new one !

DON'T SMOKE WILE DOING SO !! LOL

If the tank itself is cracked at the hole ,,,empty the tank ,J&B weld the hole ,re-tap and then put in a new screw .:party-smiley-004:

Thanks guys . . I'll get a picture tomorrow.

fwiw, the piece I need is 2" round brass with a glass insert , screws onto a fine threaded nipple that hold the level sender . .

Old fuel cover

Well I have never seen one like that...most of the magnums that I have worked on on from the 70's.Maybe someone will have one, however many times I have used a local machine shop to work on old parts and in some cases had them fabricator a new one. I will check Roger Munn Mon.and see if he might know some one who might have an extra one. Bud

I might still have a pair in my basement. when I redid my sedan I replaced the floats with remote senders. I'll look tonight.
