i have a1976 magnum sport. Iam goingtoremove the two 50 gallon fuel tanks located under the v bunks does any one have any info regarding this project?

I own a 68 Sport, same set up as yours . . and considered the same change . .
Let me share what was shared with me by previous owners and racers of these boats . . . factor in that this info is based on a boat with twin small block V8s which is how I will leave mine.
All felt that the original position allowed the boat to fly horizontal when airborne, and was best blanaced as built. Some also had added more tanks for long distance races, tanks further forward and aft tanks under the cockpit. They all strived to empty these tanks prior to emptying the tanks in the stock location.

Many boats have been changed to single engine configurations, possibly lightening the stern weight ??? and in this application I could possibly see a change in tank location.

My guess is that you'd like more space below . . . ?

leaving the tanks as built will also allow me to alter the cockpit floor, where I'll lower the floor ~ 8" behind the steering and passenger position, allowing me to stand much more comfortably while driving.

I belive his objective is to inspect the tanks for leaks etc. and not re-modify the location or floor.
Are the tanks foam sealed in?
I see no easy way except cutting out the v bunk out to get to the tanks. I'm pretty sure the flooring is 2 pieces in the cabin and is glassed in around the outside and to the front and rear bulk heads and then screwed into a stringer down the center...
I could be mistaken but if its glassed in may be a pain in the ass to get to.

you are crrect it is to inspect and probably replace the tanks thefiberglass on the V- bunks is not that thick. does anybody know the size and a good compan y that can make replacement tanks?

I know one of the best fabricators that lives here in Canton Michigan. Mike is not cheap, but he dose great work. I had him build a set of tanks for my Active cat that I had. Pm me for more info..

I changed one of the the tanks in my 1972 Magnum 27 Sport.

It was stuck in foam and I used a saw to get it out.
A couple of hours work.

It is like cutting out a square piece of cake in the middle of the cake.
