Shafts for VOLVO drives
Volvo drive parts . .
years and years ago a machine shop in Michigan made stronger vertical and prop shafts for the old drives, I know they are no longer in business, but have to suspect that somewhere there are either drives with these parts installed, or left over inventory on a shelf??? Anybody here got any clues? I really desire to keep my drives as long as possible, they were rebuilt last year and this search is to locate spare parts for that future need. Thanks, |

No that's not it . . . it was something like Muskie Machine . . I have a photocopy of an old advertisement somewhere, I'll need to dig this out , possibly scan it and post it.

Mario, Here is Muskie's ad... Sadly none of these parts are available, Kenny Black [Li'l RHINO,, & owner of Muskie Tool] past years ago and I dont know of any parts left. Most likely just like all the Wolverine casting racing parts [water pick ups, exhaust risers & more] they were put in a dumpster  when Paul Smith past on... h2o

Mario, Are you looking for prop splines for Merc props or just the heavy duty shafts ? "HIGH LIFE"

That's the ad!
I desire to find the shafts, for now I'm all set on props, having acquired Solas SS props. I believe there's a market for the shafts, and I have a manufacturer that can do these in small lots . . maybe I should just buy some old tired Volvo drives and gut them. Mario |
Every year when I hold the Old School Reunion I ask any of the old school racers if they have any old parts, photo's, videos of old races. No luck on the parts but we did find the mother load of old home made videos of Lake St Clair boats racing. :evilb: More on that later.. :grinser010: What I remember when we use the Muskie shafts they worked but did move the break point to a new spot. Back in the Day here in Detroit there was so many talented shops that could make anything from scratch... :drink: Sadly most are now gone..:eek:
