Clamshell not flush.
2 Attachment(s)
When I purchased my 27 sport it had no deck hardware. I'm about to chrome a set of clamshell vents that I saved from my 18 Donzi & planned to use on the sport. They appear to be the same look & size right down to the matching screw holes.......the only problem is, the deck is curved (back there) which makes the base of the vent not seat well to the surface of the deck.........(see pictures)
Can any other Sport owner verify how their 2 rear clamshell vents sit?....................Just wondering if Magnum made a special rear vent to acccomodate this curvature. |
Check it on a flat surface to make sure it is not warped. I would assume Magnum caulked it in to make up the differance after tweaking it a little.

-----If there was a difference between the Donzi and the Magnum, the difference wouldnt have been done at Magnum but at the original manufacturer. Algonac Cast Products made those scoops and Magnum may have given ACP a different curvature for the bottom edge. The scoops came from ACP already chromed and certainly wouldnt have been modified at Magnum after delivery.......Bill S

I put your clam shell flat against the one I pulled off of my Magnum and they are exactly the same...no curvature. Bud

Mark,
It seems really odd to me that both sides of my rear deck sloop this way & would not accept a level square base .i.e, clamshell vents.......but thanks for verifying by way of pictures. One more for ya,........have you ever seen a sport with 4 lifeline stanchions?............Mine have 4 evenly spaced screw hole patterns where the lifeline poles would be (between the bow and windshield) ..........I'm starting to think I have a real wacky deck here !! |

Various Makers of Parts
Mark,I have one set that was made by Savil Marine Haliea Fl..the other was made in Michigan who made items for Chris Craft,Donzi and others. The Magnum clamshell vent is a tad shorter than the Donzi ones, and doesn't have the inside lip.bUD
