New teak cockpit

I thought I solve my problem by covering the cockpit with teak, according to maritime tradition!

Looks beautiful and functional,see that you allowed being able to get to the gas tanks...smart move.Bud

That does look nice . Nothing like the feel of standing barefooted on a nice teak sole .
Unfortunately it does come with a higher maintenance requirement than fibreglass.

How about some details on what products you used and the procedure?

2 part epoxy to glue the boards down, white teak calk in all the joints from james town marine

James Town Marine has some products that you can't find any where else.Good source...have use them for many years. Bud

That looks great! I would like to do this on my sedan, I have a removable cockpit sole already, Would I be better off making a new panel just out of teak, or covering my existing one?

I would cover the full floor,however you must be able to get to your tanks.

Looks like a job very well done G. Looks much nicer than my carpet which is difficult to keep clean.

Bud, that's just the lowered section of the floor you see, no tanks under there on a Starfire.

Marshall, Bob and I have worked on Magnums that had 5 tanks including two under the cockpit floor.In fact we will be working on a sport that has 5,in the near future.But you are correct no Magnums came with 5 tanks as standards,however the buyer could add them at build time or later.My racing Maltese,Magnum Force had 4 tanks ,they most likleyadded them for distance racing,and some times weight distribution.
