Chicago Skyline at 160 mph
I am having a blast with this camera from GoPro.
One of the best days ever on Lake Michigan running 40 miles in 20 minutes and for a while at 160 mph. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpOCaGYyrOs |
Love the sound man but it's hard to get a perspective with the one angle. Roost is out of control though!
|
How did you mount it? Thats not with the suction cup!? is it?
|
That is sooo badass Brad! Next time you go to the city, you should pop into Diversey and see if Austin will come out and play with you in Warbird! The thread in the Chicago Powerboat section here about who's got the fastest 46 Cig will be fairly obsolete if two 160 mph cats got into it!
|
Suction cup held to 160. I did have a safety wire on it just in case. It does shake a bit at that speed. There was more speed in the boat I chickened out. I kept picturing a large cruiser wake coming my way. Aren't Cigarettes for smoking. :cool-smiley-011:

Very NICE Brad, looking good

Cool video!!!:drink:
I need to check out that GoPro camera. Is the mic connected to the camera or separate? Jeff, from Freeze Frame, suggested mounting the mic in the engine compartment for on boards. No wind noise.... just the sweet sounds of the engines. |
The mic is internal as the unit is waterproof in a enclosed cover. I was surprised the engines noise could be heard at the very front of the baot. I had it mounted in front of the bow light. I think if it was mounted closer to the rear it would sound much better. Next time I will try it much further back for a better sound.

Awsome video. Sporting some good roost!
Maybe try putting the mike near the transom to pick up more of the rumble. I watched it twice. Looks like a blast! |
way cool
|
Vey nice Brad!!!!:evilb:
|
Does the camera record to a flash drive or hard drive or is it plugging into a seperate video camera?
|

what type of file does that camera save the video as? I wanna know if it will import to my editing software. I didn't see anything on their website...
|
Mine were saved as .AVI but I think you can choose what type to upload them as.
Brad has had his for a while maybe he has a better answer. i'm sure if you have editing software that it will work, its not exotic as I used Windos Movie Maker. It also work with MAC. I have 4 more left before I need to order more. |
AVI file will work for me. One more question....does the camera have a "Lanc" control? In other words, a control button connected by wire that lets you start/stop it remotely?

No it does not. |
Do you have a photo of what the camera looks like mounted on the boat?
|
Math problem for the day...
If Brad's MTI 39 travels at 160 miles per hour... How long will it take Brad to travel the 40 miles to Chicago? A) 60 Mins B) 30 Mins C) 15 Mins D) 8 Mins E) Wow... that is fast! Just think of it this way... it wil only take you 30 mins to cross the lake to Grand Haven. Great Video!!!! Thanks |
