Just a matter of time.

No PFD, either. Natural Selection at work.

E Colby 05-17-2009 09:09 AM

Did you notice the high-tech cable steering? My dad had that on our 1976 MFG with a Johnson 40-hp outboard.

Smarty 05-17-2009 01:36 PM

No big deal, he's just having fun, why all the hate...

smokin' joe 05-17-2009 07:41 PM

He looked pretty comfortable making his boat do tricks, but how would you like to be his passenger...

I would be scared as sh*t riding with that dude when he is doing that (at first).

DMOORE 05-18-2009 12:16 AM

That dude is a nut. But he's got some skills though.

Darrell.

areyouliving 05-18-2009 03:59 PM

Yeah, once you gain confidence in boat and driver, it actually looks like a lot of fun. I wonder if he makes riders sign waivers not to bring suit in case of injury. Video sure makes great evidence though...

Hey, when I was a kid if I could have gotton my GT160 up in the air like that I'd be doing it every minute. That was just plain cool.

Could be Nydahl steering which is used in a lot of outboard race applications. It may look like the old cable steering from a jon boat but it works very well.

Yeah exactly. Our old 11' Boston whaler with a 25 had that same setup.....Teleflex special: 6 pullies, a wheel and some cable and you're good to go.

Pismo10 05-20-2009 08:56 AM

That steering is the only reason he can do that. You need good, tight steering, overpower, a very light boat, big trim, and it's not that hard.

txriverrat2001 05-22-2009 08:41 AM

I had a 15ft Laser center Nydahl steering w/ a 140 on it - it would do that chit - fun as hell............. till the steering cable broke @ a high rate of speed....... ouch....

jez350 06-28-2009 06:32 AM

Yeah this sort of stuff goes on all the time down here. There is a Lab that often appears near where I live performing similar stunts. I have a mate with a 10' tinny & 40hp & loves transom riding...
