Cafe Racer jump with GoPro pole mount!!

Hey Guys,
So what I did was take my GoPro, wire tie it to an extendable pole, wedged it into the back of the bench seat, then for added stability, we cleated a line from one side, wrapped it around the base of the pole, then tied it off on the other side. I was pretty surprised how stable it was.

I plan on ordering a c-clamp to mount the Camera permenently to the end of the 12' pole in the video. Should have some quality video of this summer if i don't drop the whole thing in the ocean...:poopoo:

cool video. how big would you say the waves where?

befu 03-20-2013 02:37 PM

I tried something similar the last time I ran my 272 last summer, except I left the contraption in the burb after parking the trailer...... :party-smiley-004: Never got to try it out.

I made a mount that secured to my swim platform and then the pole extended up about 5' with around a 20 degree sweep backwards. I really want to be able to capture a forward view of someone standing behind the boat if that makes sense. Would be great if you could at least see part of the swim platform also.

So was the post standing straight up basically at the back rest of the rear bench, correct? I need to make a better one for this year.

Cool first video,

Brian

Videos don't do justice for the size of the waves, doesn't look that big but probably average of 3' footers?

Thats funny, we had a 242 for 3 years. Alot of good memories...
Your right, the pole was vertically wedged between the bench seat and the back of the bench seat if that makes sense? We had the part you sit on (on a hinge) leaning against the pole. Then like i said we tied it down with a line. But this year i'm buying a gopro attachment clamp and mounting it the the end of the same 12' pole in the video. More flexibility in filming off the sides, or holding it straight up

This I agree with. As we try different things it will be interesting to see the results and what works the best. I know this sounds crass, as I am new to this, but I also think there are better possibilities other than a bow bouncing along the water or a cockpit back showing a wake.

Experimental angles

3 Attachment(s)
Here are a few possibilities we were looking at....

(it will sure look pretty goofy heading out)

Thats what we think too, but first we need to build something that can support the pole at an angle off of the deck securley, we'll see...:party-smiley-004:

Do you have the wifi card on that one and a I-phone/Ipad?

I am wondering if I can use the gopro with the wifi as a backup camera using our Ipad and the gopro app. But I can not find if the app will reverse the image so it looks like a standard rear view camera.

I don't have the Wifi package with mine (come's built is with the GoPro 3) but i've used my friend's with the GoPro app and it's very cool. I'm pretty sure you can by the Wifi + Remote package for somewhere around $75-80 on there website. It's really useful for determining if a certain set up or angle looks good before you just eyeball it and have 2 hours of crap recording. If i remeber correctly, it doesn't flip the video

Great idea for placement, like the location and view. Also the look at the wife after you hit the jump, Priceless.

You are correct, got word back from gopro and it does not flip the video. another missed opportunity. A good wireless video camera that will work with a RV trailer is not cheap. the $300 silver gopro and my Ipad would have been perfect. Now if I want to do that, I need to mount the gopro to shoot off a mirror to reverse the image! LOL.
