Place to eat
Anybody know of a good place to eat dinner on the lake?
Thanks, Tom |
Re: Place to eat
Lanier, sorry
|
Re: Place to eat
I like "Up the Creek" at Starboard Marina in Flowery Branch. They have plenty of dock space and have great food. Sandwiches to seafood plates. I like the conch fritters, grilled grouper and key lime pie. I am getting hungry just thinking about it.
I am also interested in finding other places so we can have a change of pace on occasion. Todd |
Re: Place to eat
Thanks Todd,
I'll try and check it out. I'm only going to have a few more chances before I start the winter project. Tom |
Re: Place to eat
Up the Creek probably has the best food right now.
The food at Holiday, and Aqua land isn't too bad either, but nothing special. Good food for the lake. They've opened a new place up at Gainesville Marina Skogies grille not bad. And if you're up on that end of the lake it's worth stoping. If you've got the time its worth going over to the Lantern Inn. The show is extremely funny, and the food is good. Worth the money. |
Re: Place to eat
Big Creek has the best food on the lake, but the dock is not too good. Get their early.
|
Re: Place to eat
Must say Up the Creek is the best food and the others listed are pretty good if you are in the area.
|
Re: Place to eat
Forgot about Big Creek. Everything I've ever had there has been great, but dock sucks!
What kind of atmosphere are you looking for? Does anyone know if Barkley has done anything with the Resturant at Lanier Harbor yet? |
Re: Place to eat
Doug,
Been a while, hope everything is well. The plans for the new Restaurant are nearly completed. We are on our second Architect but this guy is good. I am waiting for what we think will be the Final/Final set of plans. Don't give up, we will be back with a year-round operation, 2-story steak/seafood restaurant with a pit Fireplace, indoor waterfalls, Fish Tanks, outdoor patios, etc.....should be quite nice. We will have some pictures/plans/models at the January Show, come see us..... :D Barkley |
Re: Place to eat
Good for you Barkley, we are hoping for next year. The lake needs a good restaurant. Have you heard of what the plans are for the hotel they are closing? Lots of rumers going on aroud the lake lately, plans for a hotel with restaurants somewhere on the north end of the lake. What ever happened with the plans for Mary Alice park?
|
Re: Place to eat
Barkely,
Glad to hear it. I was a little scared when we stopped down over the summer, and nothing was done, and the kids on the dock looked at me like I had 4 heads. (Normally on look at me like I've got 2 heads). Indoor & outdoor dining? |
Re: Place to eat
Barkley-I hope you will still included those great ribs you use to serve. Good luck with your rebuild Sir.
Roger |
Re: Place to eat
Thanks for the support....
Yes, indoor and outdoor dining both covered and uncovered.....multi level patios most likely..... To-Go pick-up, call ahead type thing..... Yes, we will have the Ribs and original recipe... Have not heard anything about the Renaissance or Mary Alice... I am sure Virgil (Lake Lanier Islands) will build something for the lake residents. He is all about the lake, acually lives on it now I think. It would be great to have several nice places on the lake year round. Barkley |
Re: Place to eat
Hopefully they do something nice at the Islands.
I think the plan for the place up on the North end of the lake got killed by some local idiots that didn't want their peace disturbed! Not realizing how much money these places bring into the local economy. |
Re: Place to eat
Thanks guys,
I just got back in town and checked the site. I'm just wanting a good excuse to take the boat out and at the same time take my wife to dinner. (two birds one stone) This way I dont get in as much hot water for wanting to always go play hot rod. I can't wait to check them all out. Tom |
Re: Place to eat
tomcei,
R U New to the area? What are you riding around in? |
Re: Place to eat
RumRunner,
Born and raised here. I've been on the lake off and on for years, but never had anything to take ruff water. Always been SeaDoos or ski boats. I sold a drag car several years ago and pleaded my case before the boss. Just picked up a 28 Pantera 540ci carb zx drive mid 70's on gps. Man am I in love. I'm looking forward to going accross the lake any time I feel like it. It sucks being pinned in a cove. Tom |
Re: Place to eat
Tomcei,
That should be a really fun ride going across when it gets bumpy. Full cabin boat? |
Re: Place to eat
Full cabin. I've been ordering goodies for it lately. I will start redoing things on it in a couple weeks.
|
Re: Place to eat
Any pictures?
|
Re: Place to eat
I'll try to get some lined up and start a new thread on it.
|
Re: Place to eat
Submit them to us at www.cocktail-cove.com we always like to see new boats on the water.

Re: Place to eat
Here is a link to Up The Creek. It has a menu with prices. Tammy and I may have to make the trip over that way on ya'lls recommendation. Looks real good and I'm about to die for some good seafood. Our old house in Louisiana was a block from where the shrimp boats tied up and I got spoiled buying shrimp and fish off the back of the boats. I'll let ya know how it goes! Jim

Re: Place to eat
For good seafood check out Spondivits on hwy 9 near the intersection of hwy 20. Try this link http://spondivits.net/

Re: Place to eat
JnT,
Spondivits has some of the best seafood around. Third coast grille off of Friendship road also has excellent seafood. Then there is my choice. Go to Harry's farmers market, and make it yourself. They've got great fresh seafood. |

Re: Place to eat
Jim,
We met at one of the races last year, are you going up to Chatanooga? |
Re: Place to eat
If work schedule permits we will be in Chattanooga at least on Sunday. I think it will be a lot of fun. Hope to see you there! jim

Re: Place to eat
JnT,
I think it was orange beach, but after too many nights out there, that whole trip seems like a blur. |
Re: Place to eat
how many months out of the year can you boat there
thanks |
Re: Place to eat
You can count on March til October. From there it really depends on the weather. It's been in or close to the 80's every day for the last week or so. That should change when we get what ever is left over from Wilma. I've actually been out (in Sweatshirt) on both Christmas and New Years Days in the past.
