you know i have been reading how unhappy some people are boating in other parts of the country. i live on the pamlico river and it is getting to be some of the best boating. the ocean is not far away and the river is not that crowded compared to havasu or loto. :ernaehrung004:

No complaints here either, I'm in wilmington with the Cape Fear River, ICWW and Ocean. If we had more resturants it would be perfect!

i guess we are the unknown jewel in the world of boating.

Are there any boating type social events or clubs in your area? I've thought about starting something here but, there are very few go-fasts here and the ones that are here, we already boat with....
We go up as far as Morehead and have lunch at the Sanitary and for the races.
We should gather everyone up and meet at Sanitary for lunch one day.... (in the spring!)
We also regularly go to Myrtle Beach (Barefoot Landing) for the afternoon, its a nice 1 hour ride via ICWW. This summer we are planning an overnight to Charleston (about 5 hour ride) I'll post when we start making plans.

no clubs yet. i am wanting to start one. i have toyed with the idea of putting on a poker run. most events here are just locals partying. we have summerfest at the waterfront june 13 - 15 2008. usually a good time. reserve a slip soon, they go fast. ho yeah, if barefoot landing is a hour on your boat it will take 2 on mine. i got a slow boat. hope to hear any ideas on a club in eastern nc.

You guys need to come to lake gaston one weekend.......plenty of fun!

I plan of heading up in the spring. Where do we go, what do we do? When is the best time to go? Holiday or Non-Holiday weekends? Has there been talk of having the poker run again?

i used to go camping up there when i was a kid. are there still campgrounds or has it gone condos

Some of us are figuring it out. We bought a lot on Beard's Creek (off of the Neuse River near New Bern/Oriental) and hope to build there in 5-6 years. We've been down once by boat and lots of times by land. There's a lot of potential in the area, and the big River Dunes development near Oriental is going to drive a lot of it.

Like you guys said - The area needs more waterfront "establishments", but I see them as coming soon and coming fast....

welcome to nc. well in 5 or 6. i met a couple last weekend wanting to build a reatuarant across the river with docking for 10 to 20 boats. the location is a little distant but a fun run. makes a good destination point by boat. :drink:

Its still a few there, but they are going away pretty quick.

We purchased a home on Chocowinity bay 2yrs ago and love it down there....I have thought about trying to put together something like an Ocracoke Island run as an event....it really is a fantastic area for boating

we just got a lot in henrico on the lake hope to build soon.

Keep us posted if you decide to organize a poker run/ fun run. I have a house on Currituck Sound, but also happy to come down outside from Va. Beach for a run. Always wanted to check it out anyway.

i guess i need to do a poll to see if we need to do a poker run. if so i need to start planning soon. ask all your friends what they think.

I see SBI does not have Washington NC on their schedule this year....we have always left the first weekend of august open for that event...may be a good time to try to organize something?

I am moving to Belville in April. We live in Clinton now. In fact I went to UNCW.I am looking a go-fast boat as we speak. My Fountain 25 CC is fast for a fish boat, but ya know you always want something faster.:evilb: Glad to know somebody in ILM runs a go-fast. We will have to hook up when I get down there.

I'm definately interested in a PR at Gaston. Count me in!!!!

Overdrive, There are a few of us here, Do you actually fish with the 25CC? Did you do any boating here in the past? Belville has one of the easist and least crowded ramps (even on holidays) and you are about 25 miles from Wrightsville beach and 19 to Southport. Give me a call when you get to town... Are you talking about the ramp on 133? My 25 is at Jarret Bay having some refit work done, but yes it will be used for fishing. I bought my first 16' boat my sophmore year @ UNCW.
I went tooling around on my small Saturday and stopped and talked to the folks at Sothport Marina. I think I will be keeping the fountain there. Are you reworking a pantara? Give me shout if you need any help. I have reworked several boats in the past. 910 385 8696 Steven.

Tommy....sorry it took so long to get back to you, I completely forgot about this thread!

I know a few builders here local, but I have got 3 or 4 that do work for me on my stuff. They all specialize in something in the building/construction side of stuff. There is only a very few that will come in and do a turn key 100% job with-out the help of the other contractors. So instead of letting the builder sub it all out, I do it myself and save the cash they would have charged to do that......I have one here that is really good on framing and building, another that does my siding, windows, and trim, and one for my interior finishing. Let me know if I can help you out.

Where are you launching your 38. Don't know of any decent ramps in Chocowinity Bay. The only relatively long ramp we know of is at Havens Gardens on the North side of the River at Washington Park. We've launched our 35 at that ramp but haven't tried the new boat.

My Father-in-law is dying to ride over to Ocracoke so we would love to tag along if you or Fountainemp set something up. My wife is originally from across the river at Riverside (across from Witchard's Beach) so we interested in doing some more boating on the Pamlico.

We usually use Washington Park or Twin lakes.... I just got the 38 in the fall but I think those ramps will still be okay...we'll be around alot this summer so if you see a red Donzi running around flag us down

I have a place on the Pamlico River. Did any one ever get any thing going on there this year?

Any of you Eastern NC guys comming up to Va for the Ocean Marine Poker Run in Portsmouth Va.? It is May 17th come out and play in the Chesapeake Bay. :D
