Smith Mnt Lake VA Hotspots????
I have a friend who has invited my family and my boat to his lake house on SML this coming July.I was there backin the early 90's in the jetski day's .I was wondering if anyone had any sugestions for hotspots, resturants or things to do or see etc. Keeping in mind we will be having 5 kids in tow ages 3-7 .Also while searching prior posts there was talk of a possible 35mph max speed on the lake did that pass? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kevin

There is a ton to do and 99.9% are kid friendly. No the 35 mph speed limit did not pass. It was actually an attempt at a 35 mph Night time speed limit bill which then could have been easily amended once passed to include a daytime speed limit. That is the reason so many fought the bill.
Here's a good link to start for info on SML If you want to ask something specific feel free to pm me or ask on the board as there are a bunch of SML boaters on here. |
July is a great time to visit, however if you are coming on July 4th please watch out, the lake gets very crowded on that weekend. As for kid friendly, most places are family oriented until around 8pm and then my crew shows up, and its all over.:evilb:

And again I appreciate your help .Kevin |
tie-ups with amusements..for kids and adults i'd say http://www.bridgewaterplaza.com/
Another fun place that is laid back and worth a visit is the portside tiki bar but it's only open Fri/sat/sun. As for good anchor spots....that are beach like, there aren't any like that but there are plenty of coves to drop a hook in. |

Anybody have a link to the announcement of the not passed speed limit? |
Keep an eye on the www.SMLPBA.com site too. I have 2 kids with me 99.9% of the time. A 5 & 7 yr old. Shoot me a PM if you'd like to meet up that weekend.
