Anyone have opinions on the nicest, cleanest lakes in the area for powerboats...looking for lakefront property....considering Greenwood Lake, Lake Marian...any info would be great...

For powerboats, I would think Lake Murray and Lake Norman are probably the most popular. Lake Marion is large but has a lot of fish habitat (read stumps). I'm not familiar with Greenwood Lake. Both Murray and Norman have a number of go fasts that frequent them.

Like waterfront/lakefront property anywhere these days that is navigable, it's pretty pricey. My son lives on Lake Norman and I would like to have a place close to him, but the real estate bust hasn't changed prices there much that I've seen. Likewise, I recently sold a place on Lake Wateree thinking it had about peaked, but prices there are still on an upward rise. Wateree is smaller, about 14,000 acres, but nice and clean and will accomodate powerboats.

Don't forget about Kerr 50,000 acres

Take a look at Lake Hartwell. Just under 1000 miles of shore line, a good powerboat community, and nice green water. Lake levels are down now so it's a great time to buy. As is anywhere we have some shady developers so look out. I know of a reputable builder with a lot of inventory if you r interested, or a good realtor.

Another route is to take part in the up comming poker runs or rallys;
Lake Murray's rally is May 10th (see adds here on Offshore)
Lake Hartwell "poker run" is May 24th (see Hartwell Gold Poker Run site)
Great way to visit both lakes and get to know the local lake rats.
