GoodTymn 07-15-2008 08:24 PM

CYA there,

I heard 3 doors down are playing ?

but, I just looked at their tour dates and ,,,
7/26/2008 Camden, NJ Susquehanna Bank Center

so who is playing for the event?????

ThruHull 07-15-2008 08:54 PM

Michael Peterson is the headliner at Fairveiw. I am not sure who is playing Aquapalooza on the James or SML yet. I am going to try to call SeaRay of Richmond tomorrow.

45SS 07-16-2008 05:26 AM

We will be there, unfortunately we have to haul family.

BAJA WILL 07-16-2008 10:30 AM

Central Boat and Trailer sales put on "Bajapalooza" for last couple of years at SML.

Actually I just got off the aquapalooza website and they had another event at the same location as ours?? Damn I didn't even know it, after looking at their pics ours was wilder??????

SWEET

Fairview Beach is a nice ride from Cobb Island, probably 45 min at a slow cruise. Last year the was over 1000 boats there, so make sure you have fenders to raft up or a good stern anchor to hold your position with the tide changes.

Bill or PAtti (45Sonic) should chime in any minute now. I know there is a decent ramp on Cobb Island that they use.

45sonic 07-17-2008 01:12 PM

Yes, we have a good ramp at Cobb Island that we use for the Sonic. Goose Bay might be closer for you... it is half way between Cobb Island and Fairview (use less fuel). We will be bringing the Sea Ray if it is running better. We will get that back this weekend. If not, we will be bringing the Sonic. Either way, we can hook up at Cobb Island or outside Goose Bay and show you the way. You might have to run circles around us if we bring the Sea Ray. Randy and Sharon (Beak Boater) also launch at Goose Bay.

Feel free to give me (Patti) a call 703-407-9106 or Bill 301-674-2773.

Cheers!:drink:

Well look at the demographics and who put it on:rolleyes:SMLYacht Club. The cruisers and majority who would have heard about it on SML are not your typical rip it up and get crazy types. Now if they actually promoted it and put on a good band it might be something.

We are always up for a good event on SML.

as for the Aquapalooza at Fairview beach, we were thinking of trailing up for this event but we lost access to our boat storage location up here in nova so it's sort of up in the air ......... :(

Andre, what kind of storage do you need? We could make room in the driveway at Cobb Island.

Thanks for the offer. I think trailer length is about 34ft. Now remind ya it's a deck tunnel. I heard I shouldn't go past 301 bridge on the river as it starts to get big water? Isn't cobb past that?

Big water??!! Not normally. You need to get closer to the Bay for that unless it is really windy. We have a 22 Scarab, 28 Sunsation and a 24 Baja on the island.....no problem. A lot of people on the island have small center console boats. We are just past the 301 bridge across the river from Colonial Beach, VA.

Offer stands.

Goose Bay Marina is your best bet. About 15 min cruise from their. Did you run the Fun run on the Patuxent at the end of June?

Cool cool then i was misinformed! We are headed to the lake tonight and we'll see if how the weekend goes and if we are going to trail it back up. I found out there's a smaller Aquapalooza on SML the same weekend and it might save us from having to tow back. Thanks for the offer and we'll give ya a buzz if we decide to do it.

Shah Mat 07-23-2008 11:26 AM

We're planning to raft up in front of the campground. (east of Tim's pier) Come on by....

GoodTymn 07-25-2008 02:24 PM

Bill

about what time you going to be headn out from Cobb Isle? we are actually staying down at Coles for the weekend and will be cruising up that way for a lunch at Gilligans, and then maybe hit the palooza.

45sonic 07-25-2008 02:29 PM

Not sure when we are leaving....probably late morning in the Sonic. We will be anchoring down river from Tim's pier. When we get tired of that, we will probably hit Gilligan's for dinner. (We refuse to eat at Tim's....too many times with bad food/service.)

Give one of us a call
Bill - 301-674-2773

I have heard that very same thing from others, was told Captain Billy's is a good stop for food as well. I will keep an eye out for ya,

Rick

Capt'n Billy's USED to be the place to go. It is not boater/biker friendly any more. They have attitude...in a big way. Better off going to Gilligan's.:ernaehrung004:

Anyone stick around late Sunday afternoon? We left a little after 1pm and we were safely on the lift by the time the storm hit Nomini Creek.

I love how inaccurate the second news story is.

We got back just in time to clean, flush and cover the boat before it unloaded on us. Hope everyone got home safely.

Here is an e-mail and pics I got from Angela, my water skiing buddy. She has a small Mastercraft......

What an exciting weekend at Fairview! First there was Aquapalooza on Saturday, on Sunday I skied, then hunted for beach glass with my dad on the Maryland side, and, finally, got caught in a freak storm while we were coming back across the river.... Good thing my dad was driving, otherwise I might be boatless. Little ski boats aren't made for ocean-like swells washing over the bow. Repeatedly. It was all very exciting--and no one was hurt. (And Po was on shore with Nana the whole time.)The fireman in the news story downplays it a bit. It was a mess for more than a "few minutes." Or maybe it seemed that way because Dad and I were outrunning one storm but were side-swiped by another. In a little ski boat. Taking on LOTS of water. In wind, rain, and swells. But my dad is an excellent driver, so we made it through the storm in one piece. My photos of the boats washed up on the beach are attached. You can see the big boats that were still beached an hour after the storm. BoatUS pulled one big one off the beach, and the fine citizens of Fairview pushed the other one off the beach. The rest--those in the photos--were still beached when Po and I left at 7pm.I will probably get other photos from other people later. ~Ang * )
