Need an engine builder

Does anyone have any recommendations for an engine builder in the MD Baltimore area, even DE or northern VA.

With so many internet companies being unreputable or out of my price range. I don't need a 20k motor in a 25k boat!

I'd like to find someplace local to do most of the machine work and some of the assy. I can do the rest.

I need a 550HP motor built. I'd like a place to be experienced in marine but i can't seem to find anybody i would trust.

Thanks

I have been extremely satisfied with Nelson Anderson in Pasadena, MD for over 25 years. Honest, prompt, returns phone calls, and leaves the boat cleaner than when he steppped aboard. He would be a good person to contact. 410 255 1007.

I would not hesitate to call Tony at CMS. He has a lot of HP experience as well as former racing exp too. He's done both my 502's and will be doing another set for me again. PM me if you want the contact info.

liqdsun 10-21-2008 12:10 PM

hey mister 38 top gun, are you sure you want to do this here? The reason you are sorry has nothing to do with CMS or Tony. The entire situation that you have is unfortunate, but its a simple process to navigate through. Nobobdy else is sorry to deal with CMS, only you.

Steve1209 sorry for the above but it needed to be put up, all being said everything you are looking for can be handled at CMS from start to finish, machine work, and re-rig if necesary. Hope this is helpful.

Who is this????? Are you from the Baltimore area??? The only 38 Cigs that CMS has worked on that I know of...all run like champs...

Have you ever had work done by CMS???!!!

I pretty much know everyone who has had work done by CMS in the last 2 years and not one person has been disappointed...He built motors for my dad and they are the most reliable motors he's ever had in all his boating years....

If your talking about CMS in Middle River...I think you have your story mixed up...

Linster 10-21-2008 06:54 PM

MDG is top notch.

comininhot 10-21-2008 08:04 PM

Dave at MDG is great I do alot of work with them and he is very good.

Viper31 10-28-2008 11:52 AM

I met Dave at Londontowne years ago, great guy. He is recommended by many for as long as I can remember. I don't remember a machine shop being down there though. Is Dave doing his own machine work now?

Pat Ousborne 10-30-2008 09:40 AM

I know so many pleased boaters who rely on Tony @ CMS who say he is a great mechanic. Never hear anything but good stuff from more than a dozen people. I'm in Middle River and have no doubt that he is the man around here!

Viper31 10-30-2008 12:47 PM

John at Jaws Marine would be another good guy to talk to

wow! thanks everyone. I did contact Dave at MDG. He's got me on the right track for building an awesome motor. He hooked me up with a base motor to start with. Can't wait to get completed. Doin some work myself with the help of Dave. So far Dave's been a pleasure to deal with. He has no other motive that to help me out. So thanks again to for sending me to him.

good to hear it, my tiger is still there, i'll be picking it up soon. Dave is a straight up business man, and a good guy...He always does the right thing, it can be expensive, but you always get what you pay for.
