Jack's at Lake Anna this weekend
Who is going to be there this year. I have never been to this event but am looking forward to it. We are going to put in at Rocky Branch Marina and spend the night there as well at the campground.
Lake Anna Virginia boat party and feast June 11 and 12, 2010
This will be our 15th year for hosting this event. Come and enjoy it with us! Friday is our goof-off day. Lake Anna is 18 miles long and is normally relatively calm on week days. This makes for real nice boating and having lots of fun. We will have hamburgers and hot dogs for you on Friday around 1 pm.
Saturday is the day that most people come to the event. We call it the “Lake Anna Feast.” There will be over 150 boats if normal turnout prevails. This is the biggest event on the east coast for small boats 16 to 25 feet. Large and small boats show up and are all welcome.
All pets must be on a leash and muzzled if necessary. You know your animals, so please control them accordingly.
There are five boat marinas nearby. If your boat is 21 feet or less, you can launch on a local boat ramp near the party. But please be considerate about launching here as we don’t want the lawn near the ramp damaged by heavy boats following a rain shower.
The daily schedule usually runs with boats showing up as early as 7 am.
Our Saturday menu this year will be North Carolina style B-BQ, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, hush puppies, and french-fries. We are proud to say that a lot of our neighbors here, as well as fellow boaters, bring side dishes to share which always rounds out the feast. We normally feed over 500 people, so if you can bring a dish to share, it will be greatly appreciated. But no mayonnaise please as it is usually warm and we don’t want anyone to get ill. Lunch will be served around 1 pm.
This year the Lake Anna rescue squad will be our guest host and will have units on site and their members will help with serving the food. A donation bucket will be there to help them as you see fit.
If you have any questions, call Jack Weller at 301-802-7615 anytime.
