i don't need nothing just seeing who is in the area new to boating and like to know the hot spots on the river

You are in a good spot--can hit the Patuxent quickly and not far from the Potomac. I'm fairly new too, and not too much into "hot spots", but I know my way around the water pretty good. Make sure you join the Maryland Powerboat Club, which is based in So. Md. The first Poker Run is June 11 on the Patuxent, usually starts at Solomons Island Tiki Bar. They hit 3 or 4 "hot spots". The events are all reasonably priced, and mostly attended by local performance boaters (50+ boats). The July run is usually on the Potomac...
http://www.marylandpowerboatclub.com/ I believe Vera's White Sands is a pretty good place to hang out... http://verasbeachclub.com/ |

Dont forget about the CBPBA and the Solomons Offshore Grand Prix, The OPA National Championships that happen right in Solomons Island.
Veras is a great place with some good Bikini Contests in the summer!!!! |

Were gonna be out every weekend, and always lookn for people to run with. We have stuff going on all summer long, just check in at www.cbpba.com and sign up for the website, it's free. We will have our schedule up shortly. We have a couple of poker runs, raft ups, fun runs, and the offshore races in September. Some of the events require membership and some don't and new friends are always welcome. PM me if you need help with anything. |

I hit the "Hot Spots" but usually during off peak times. I don't like crowds and usually have the family with me so I try to keep a low profile. :drink: |
I'm from the Cobb Island area but can be found on the Pax River occasionally and pretty much all over the Potomac.
Gilligans, Fitzies, Tall Timbers, Colonial Beach, Coles Point to name a few |
hi guys thanks for all the replies ,i race at potomac in the summer and dont get out on the water to much but when i do just want to find the best places to go..
|
I'm in Hollywood. Vera's and Tiki bar are the two hotspots on the river after 4pm. Earlier in the day, you can usually find people on the beach at battle creek, and scattered around the other waterfront restaurants throughout the weekend.

I usually launch at Goose Bay, sometimes Smallwood, its closer. |
I launched once at Smallwood last year and the sea grass just about swallowed me up! Otherwise, it was a very nice place for half tide+ launching.

You guys using Smallwood Park, be careful if you have any alcohol in your boat. Its not allowed in any state park at all, and that doesnt mean drinking it. Just having it in a cooler in your boat can get you into trouble. Watched them checking people at the boat ramp.

Another thing is you have to be out of there by dark. If you come in after dark they will shake you down too. |

Not sure how they can get away with that. From the DNR website on state park policy; Will I be cited for having unopened containers of alcoholic beverages in my vehicle? No, per State law, park patrons may transport unopened alcoholic beverages in their vehicles to access areas where alcohol is allowed. |
If you wanna hang with the hip people (me) hit Gilligans Or if you wanna hang out in the water, Fairview (Tims II) is a very popular place. Usually a couple hundred boats there on any given weekend.
If you want to know where the Early Bird specials are, and want 15% off your check, hang out with Beak Boater. :party-smiley-004: Love u Pops. |
