Lake Norman boating
 

We are thinking about coming down for a week in June. What is there to do on the lake? Any restaurants or bars to go to by water or anywhere else to go by boat? Do they enforce decibel levels? Do you ever have to watch out for hitting anything or is it deep? Any info will be appreciated, thanks.

Not an expert, but we spent a week down there a few years ago. There were some cool bars / restaurants to go to, and the lake is beautiful. We also usually stop there anytime we are headed north from salt water, makes a nice place to flush the boat and trailer. Certainly worth the trip, you will love it!

Artie did you have to watch water depth or is it deep every where? Is the water nice and clear?

Good post, we were talikng about checking it out for July 4 instead of Lake Cumberland.

We are possibly going the last week in June. We have been looking at houses for rent. We are going to Cumberland the last week in July and for the Poker Run.

We've been there half dozen times or more. Awsome lake w/awsome people.
Rented a place called Robin's Nest from VRBO(sumtin like that) Search it...
Didn't go last year but friends did. Said house was showing some wear but still nice. Like 1700 per week. Dock out back near ramps and bars.
Many nice reastauants and bars on the lake. Take yer GPS as you can get lost!
As Artie said, great place to flush out the salt when heading back north as ramp is 10 mins from I-77.
There is a lot of members here who live there and most will be happy to give more info. STeet even gave us his chart and bought us dinner the first time.(this weekend 5 yrs ago)

I live 5 minutes from LKN and boat there. Used to live on the lake so spent some time on it although only been in the area 4 years.

GPS is a good idea, its easy to get lost at first. If you launch at Blythe Landing (10 mins off exit 25 off I-77) be a little careful at tieing up some of the slips closer to land, it can get shallow depending on your ride. Like a dumbass, I dinged a prop before I figured that out.
Its a man made lake with levels controlled by the hydro power station dam, so unless there's a drought the lake levels stay pretty consistent throughout the summer.

Water is clear and warm, sometimes gets a little red close to shore if you're on a beach during a busy weekend day.

Bars and restaurants, there are enough to keep you entertained. Google Rusty Rudder, Queens Landing, Vinnies,

Generally very nice people on Lake Norman. You can run into anyone from a bass fisherman to a Nascar driver depending on the day. Typical Southern friendly folks.
