Ocean City Public Ramp

Looks as if they have redone the ramps ( Main Ramp prior to entering Ocean City from Route 50). There is now floating docks over the old fixed dock.

What is the largest boat ( length wise ) that can be launched there ? DNR & Coast Guard local there couldnt answer any questions regarding this or or if the underwater concrete ramp extended to the end of the new floating docks or past them. All they indicated is that they had seen some large boats launched there in the past.

Any idea's ? Would be nice to trailer down for a few days and launch 45 Feet of Sonic there and go for some rides in the Atlantic.

Some rather large race boats have used that ramp with no problems.

Before or after the redo ?

smcser 08-10-2011 09:20 AM

When was the redo? The last race was last year.

If they had fixed docks last year, that was old. This year they have floating docks. Saw them in June.

Where is this ramp? Would like to check it out.

West Ocean City. Sunset Avenue, a few blocks off of Rt 50 just prior to the main entance into Ocean City from Rt 50.

Since the redo, I can't answer your question. But in the past, there have been quite a few large boats launched and retrieved there. High tide is definitely easier. DO NOT drop the trailer of the end of the ramp, it is a ***** to get it back over the end

Too funny. We have a Rt. 50 near Ocean City, NJ. No wonder I couldn't find it.:lolhit:

Thanks guys for the info. Figured high tide would be best time to launch / retreive.

I keep my boat down there for the summer and I know the ramps you speak of. The renovation of the ramp really didnt change the length. All they really did was improve the peir and took the original 2 lane ramp to a six lane ramp. With that being said you should have no problem launching during high tide.

Thanks. Do you if the ramp extends to the end of the dock ? Be nice to know where it ends.

Prowler26 08-12-2011 03:31 PM

I believe it extends to the end of the new bulkhead. When I'm out this weekend I will see if someone there can give me a better answer and I will post what I find out.

Okay story is that the ramp extends past the new poles for the new floating docks and also has stops at the end to keep from going off. Hope this helps. Everbody that I know down there says a boat your size should be fine.

Thanks. Very much appreciated !!!!!!!!!

We launched a 39 a few weeks back and it was no problem.
