Rappahannock boat ramps close to Fredericksburg
 

There are two small boat ramps close to Fredericksburg off of rt 3.

Has anyone used them?
How big of a boat can be launched?
How deep is the channel going down river?

I'm building a house real close to both of them and thought we could take the smaller boat (21 crownline) or the jet skis out on the Rapp for a change of pace from the Potomac. Looks like a long ride down to June Parker where I launch the C-mate but heck, I'd much rather boat than tow.

Joey, there is a ramp at a restaurant where 301 crosses the Rappahannock.

I only ever see fishing boats when I cross there, which is only once or twice a year; but the river appears to be huge in that area so I imagine it's deep enough for a good size boat.

I know the restaurant and have seen the ramp. Not sure what can be launched from there though.

The two I ponted out on my map link are close to a stones throw from my new house. Just thinking ahead for a day with the kids skiing and tubing and how nice it would be to be 5-10 minutes from home when the day is done.

Water depth ranges from around 3-6 in the narrow areas. It's 28-29 miles of narrow winding creek to the 301 bridge, after which the waterway opens up slightly. Expect lots of debris in the water, especially after it rains. A friend of mine put a jetski in at the Fredricksburg ramp. A few miles later he was dead in the water from debris being sucked into his intake. An outboard with a shallow draft will probably work best. I tried it once with a jetski. Luckily I didn't suck in any debris but once was enough for me!

Back when I fished I used to put a 21' Gambler in at the Little Falls Boat Ramp which is just a couple miles south of City Dock on Rt. 3. I had no problems there, and I'd routinely run the river down to Port Royal area. If you're smart and stay off the inside points in the meandering corners I think you've got plenty of water. I never had any issues in my bass boat.
