Sorry to take so long to provide some input. I also would think Chesapeake would be your best bet. Also, there are several places to boat, however some are divided by some natural barriers. Lots of places to put over if you trailer. The 2 places mentioned for dry storage is in Portsmouth and in Chesapeake. If you want to boat south on the ICW, you will have to go thru 1 lock system and wait for 2 bridges. This could take 1-2 hours. Personally, I would like to keep my options open and have a trailer. Too many places to go and see!

I really appreciate all the help, advice, and contacts from everyone! I can't wait to move down and enjoy more than 4 months of boating per year :D
