Closed Cooling for Annapolis/Chesapeake

Hi Everyone,

I am moving to either Annapolis or Kent Island later this year. I'd like to get into a powerboat (really liking the Formula 382). Is closed cooling required for boats in that area, or is that part of the Chesapeake far enough North where the salt won't wreak total havoc on your engine? Thanks!

Always go closed cooling when you can imo.

As I do more research, I agree. Thank you!

the salinity is more in and around the bay bridge, but its still considered semi brackish, the further north you go it gets less. many of us around here flush with salt away or salt gone and our engines are just fine and last years. even with closed cooling you will still need to properly flush and maintain your out drives and anodes.
