Hello from out of town...
...quick question for all of you. How many of you winterize your boats here in Atlanta? (I am working at Ft. McPherson for a few days, and am havin withdrawals since it was so nice yesterday.)
Do most people try to keep the boat at home with a heater in the bilge? Fully winterize? Or maybe just run -50AF through the cooling system? If I was going to be here during the Boat Show (which I may be back at that time), I would be sure to meet up with you all at the show. Oh well, back to work. Hurry up so you can wait. |
Both!
I winterize the Warlock, but have a bilge heater in my Four Winns cruiser. So, I can go out all year, just can't play too hard!

Don't Winterize, but the boat sits inside my garage, and it's completley drained. Although doesn't make much difference right now since the motor is out on the stand !!!

I drain mine (if its too cold to flush the stuff into), and fill with 50/50 from the intake thermostat housing.....to the top. (I've been thinking the 50/50 keeps the stuff lubed inside and should help with any rust build-up).

Hope everyone in club is properly winterized..
Fuel conditioner in tank & run for 5-10 minutes. Fog carbs or use 2 cycle oil in fuel filter for MPI.> Pull all drain plugs, water pump hose, oil cooler hose and big j hose up front.. Bilge heaters great for cruisers being used.. otherwise winterize.. We replace far too many busted blocks each year. SKY |
Re: Hello from out of town...
I was at a poker run at the local lake this weekend and saw a new product that seems better than what I have seen available in the past, www.xtremeheaters.com . It was small enough to mount in a SKI boat and claimed to produce more heat than what was available in the past. Seems to be a relatively new company and didn't know if you guys had any opinions you could share on this product? Thanks for any input you have to offer,
I have known several people who did not winterize and ran some type of bilge heater at Lake Lanier without issue, I plan to use my boat in the winter. Bill |
