Boat Check 2003

Hey. Its never too late to see how many of us are ready for 2003.
(or in my case a bit late.......aka the St.Johns river folks already got their act together)

Kaamacat - PreSeason prep included new batteries, h2o/fuel filters, oil/filter, fresh fuel, and rebuild of the outer set of steering rams. (amazing the difference in the old rubber seals vs new gorloc material). Although I did find upper P/S bolt busted so gotta tap that one out this weekend........but, she fired up real nice. Two weeks for me.

Hey Bob!
I've been ready for about a month now. Had Marine Max do all the annual stuff for me, and I had her out a few weeks ago. She ran great w/the new prop! The cruiser had annual service done @ the same time. But it has a bilge heater, so it doesn't need winterization. Looks like you should be ready for the Hartwell trip! Hope to see ya soon!

RW. Same here. (I though I'd be out this weekend, but like I said the loose P/S belt was a bit more than just an adjustment)... And I hate doing the drill/reverse-out deal.....50/50 chance it works.

Was out on Lanier last weekend with a friend......lots of boats....the darn lake is so high, there is almost no ramp left.

Hey.........were is your Warlock twin Mr.Ron...........?

Bob

RedWarlock 05-08-2003 08:38 PM

I think that coming in second in Daytona has made him a little cocky. (just kidding Ron :p). I'm sure with work, prepping the boat, and procuring sponsors our good friend is probably stretched pretty thin right about now... :crazy:How does it feel to run on a FULL lake for a change?

kaamacat 05-09-2003 08:05 AM

RW........I completely lost track of that. (didnt know he was officially racing this year). Gonna have to attend some of the closer events then and support our "brother".

I didn't have to do any prep. Just bought a whole new boat instead. No more Fountain, 29' was just too small.

I just closed my deal on a 38' TOP GUN. Don't think I will name it CASH BAR this time. I'll keep you all posted on the name. Boat is white with Purple, Fuscia, and blue graphics.

kaamacat 05-09-2003 06:57 PM

Greg.......Did you get it from Bill. Something made me think he was also gonna try to carry them also....... (and now thats one amazing machine).........

I did get the Cig from Bill. It came from Randy Garciga of Cobra Motor fame. It was Randy's boat. Bill and him are putting together some package boats, and Bill mentioned I was looking for a nice Cig. One thing led to another and I took a sea trial last Sunday. I'm goin' down Wed. to pick it up. I'll post lots of pics after that.

See you on Lanier, Greg

kaamacat 05-11-2003 08:27 AM

Greg.....Great!! (saw Bill yesterday in fact, they were getting Garth's Skater ready for a run.....). Hey, you gonna be out next weekend. I might be out Saturday 11am-4pm.

Ron. Think we will try to make the July run in GA.

Bob

RedWarlock 05-11-2003 09:11 AM

Bob and Ron.

Thought you guys were gonna come up to Allatoona a few times this year and raft up in "cocktail cove"?

kaamacat 05-11-2003 06:56 PM

RW.......Yep. I will make an effort to head over that way this year without a doubt. I may need to get some ramp info from you as to which is the closest to me if I'm coming rt20.

...........and go figure (if the weather folks are right), looks like stormy weather coming this way end-of-week.

...also. With this weeks rain, up at Charleston Park which is right down the road from where I'm stored on 6Mile, the ramps are now under water...........ok.......there is about 1' of yellow at the end showing.

We don't need it!!!

We went today to check on our boats and I had to WADE in waist high water to get to the dock!!! The water is usually 28.5 feet in the slip our cruiser sits in when the lake is full. It's now @ 36.5 feet!!! The ramp we normally use for the Warlock is completely in accessable, as is Marine Max, (Sea Ray dealer in our Marina) by anything other than water, or an EXTREMELY lifted 4x4. At the ramp that most people use, Blockhouse, you have to swim to get to the dock! You can't even see the ramp!!! LOL!!!

Send it our way

Lake Murray is down 15' while they repair the dam & boy is it a pain.

When is the Hartwell deal? There is a poker run Next weekend (May 24th)
This is what I found - Lake Hartwell & Golden Corner Lakes Power Squadrons present the Hartwell Gold/Rock 101 Poker Run benefiting Meals on Wheels on May 24. Prize money of $1000, $500, and $250 wil be awarded to top hands.

Send tanker trucks!!!

Weather reports more rain on the way!!! If you want some of it, send trucks!!! :D Hartwell is the weekend of June 7th. If the rain keeps up, we may be coming in our boats as opposed to towing!!!

Michael Martin 05-20-2003 08:51 PM

LOL!!!!!

Sounds like a good time. Where's everyone meeting up?

Mike

RedWarlock 05-22-2003 04:08 PM

Good ?...

This will be my 1st time on Hartwell in a boat so I have NO idea where we're gonna be putting in at. I do know we're staying at the Shoney Inn off I-85 @ the GA/SC border, if that helps any... Any other LMPC members gonna try to be there?

kaamacat 05-22-2003 05:34 PM

RW. The only ramp I'm familiar with is the one just off Exit#1 in SC. In-fact, when you cross the bridge, on the far left side you will see it in a small cove.

Not bad, I've pulled out of there. There is sand on the ramp though in some spots (if that matters).

To access, get off X1 and go about 2miles. On left is the State park entrance.

** I thought you guys usually put in up at Portman on Exit#10?

Bob

RedWarlock 05-22-2003 09:40 PM

Thanks Bob!

As stated above, it'll be my 1st time boating there so any info is GREATLY appreciated!

Michael Martin 05-23-2003 07:00 AM

Well I got screwed again. The wife just reminded me that I have to go to her sisters wedding on the 7th. It'll be her 3rd so maybe this guy will keep her...

Not sure on what the LMPC has planned. I have been tring to get in touch with Cat & Ken for a while with no responce.

Mike

RedWarlock 05-23-2003 10:21 AM

LOL!!!

Mike, you could just tell her you've already seen that movie twice before... and it ended the same both times!!! LOL!!! :p

Michael Martin 05-23-2003 04:08 PM

I wish!! The guy shes marring this time is WAY out there. His entire family live for firefighting. They are all members of the local fire station. Even his grandmother thats 86!!

I have absolutly nothing in common with them. They dont smoke, dont drink, dont boat, dont fish, ...All they do is sit around & wait for the sirens to go off..

I'm telling ya its bad. For x-mas they gave us smoke detectors. WTF??!! It was all I could do to keep a streight (SP?) face. Boy the beating the wife gave me when we got home...

Mike
