Question, are the Mid-night express boats still built from the same molds back then in 1986? Where is the company located today in Miami? Thanks!

Re: Midnight Express Forum

The original Midnights were taken from a 36' Cigarette. Back then the hull was left alone and the deck was changed. A bracket was used for 0/B installs.

When the new Midnight came about they changed the molds drastically. hull sides were raised 5" the floor was raised and the deadrise was changed from 24 to 22. The bracket is now integerated in the transom with live wells doors etc..and of course the entire boat has tons of new technology, toys, materials etc..

Midnight has again sold (recently) and they are under new ownership( awesome bunch  ) They also have a new 37 with a 11' beam. ( not the original mold) The new Midnights are nothing like the old.

Although I still love my 37.:D :D :D

Didn't the original Midnights have a 26 degree deadrise? My father in law has a 32' and I am almost positive it is 26 degrees. Were the 37's 24 degree and the 32's 26 degrees?

Enforcer2 06-22-2007 12:42 PM

not sure of the 32's. If you are interestd inthe mold I know where I can get it.

I was told it is the same mold as the apache/aronow 32, that was used for the 32 Midnight

jbutah 06-22-2007 01:13 PM

Not really interested in buying the mold itself, but I am always interested in the history of these boats. Is someone currently using the mold to make boats, or do you just know who owns it?

Enforcer2 06-22-2007 03:52 PM

molds not in use, they are for sale...........

CincyExpress 07-24-2007 02:15 PM

Hey is anyone familiar with the old midnight offshore boats? I have a 37 midnight sport "not the open fish" and was looking into upgrading my interior. Does anyone on here know what is similar to that interior? I wanted to kind of set it up close to the interior of an outerlimits!

Enforcer2 12-16-2008 11:49 PM

There is nothing similar as they stop being produced in the late 80's early 90's....except for mine:D And a majority of the boats were Smuggler boats built for one purpose and it wsn't comfort. Not to mention there were not many of the sport decks like ours.

Twin marine in Miami Florida builds complete interiors. Or can recover yours with new materials.

I also believe the guy that does outerlimits interiors is in Jersey or New York cant remember, I did speak to him and he will do interiors

Most high end boats are using Boltaflex or similar. Comes in all sort of neat designs and colors too include carbon fiber

And prepare to spend at least 6-10 K

CincyExpress 12-26-2008 03:54 PM

hey thanks for the input enforcer! If I decide to make any changes, ill be sure to let you know and post some pics

krugger3 02-02-2009 11:44 PM

I use to own a 1985 37, bought it new from Midnight. I had 3 275 V8 Evinrude outboards. Motors were junk, but the boat would run through anything.

Mine ran 76-78 and it was light I was running 28" and 26 " Bravo ones and Mirage Plus...but I was on high end of RPM band..so could have went 30 28.

Possible I guess....if you remeber mine was light, lay up was vinylester..I had to add weight to bow to keep her in the water.

I have heard of a few running close to 80..but rare

Enforcer2 05-24-2012 09:13 PM

I really miss mine..shoould have never sold it:(....I have a Prokat 2660 for sale....if any one is interested
